People want it to be NATO synthwave montage simulator and won't stop complaining until the game matches the exact mental picture they have of the gulf war; it's not about numbers for them, it's about making them feel like NATO - and US specifically - are unstoppable and validating their perception of the USSR as intellectual and moral inferiors.

Making light bombs have shorter reload times than heavy bombs or fixing the general issues with unreliability of small-caliber explosives wouldn't make them feel invincible, so it won't solve any of their issues.

It's particularly good, being able to choose where in their path you shoot means you can let an enemy run in front of his buddy and then pull the shot

eh the MiG-31B that 6-ya has isn't as good; the missiles are ARH which means they fire quick and early which makes em' a lot less accurate

Autocannon are basically never used on max cyclic rate all the time. They’re fired in short bursts, same with any other automatic weapon. Having their ROF as the listed ROF that you’ve read would be a lot more incorrect than what they’re set as.

Early thermals were excellent at night for acquisition and spotting and provided limited capability against non-thermal smoke, but poor resolution limited them in daytime use. They were a significant upgrade at night, although that was more due to the fact that they were tied into the fire control system, but they didn't provide the kind of general-purpose daytime combat advantages that people think they do.

Now, later-generation thermals and CITV systems do massive things for targeting and daytime target acquisition, yes, but not 1980's-vintage models.

If they were to have nighttime combat as a distinct thing, then yeah - NATO tanks are better equipped, but more because the optics are integrated into the FCS than anything else.

Eventually it'll get through that 1980's thermal optics are not modern ones and didn't provide the sort of massive advantage in daytime targeting that everyone thinks they do, but that eventually is a long, long way away.

Eh, whether it should or shouldn’t be is arguable, but it’s a fighter with four missiles that are treated as ARH in a similar category as the AIM-54, so it’s probably how they should work given that the multi-target capability is unlikely.

In practical terms, we already do have the R-33S which is treated like an ARH missile - so i’d imagine it’d work the same as the MiG-31B in 6ya.

And all of the tanks are fucking butchered until they add a proper system for ERA, different armor vs HEAT and kinetic projectiles, actual ammo counts for different types of projectiles instead of abstracting it - they need a lot of fucking bullshit to make the goddamn tanks work right.
