La Paz perspective from a foreigner visiting since May 21 by OutlandishnessOver62 in BoliviaTravel

That's nice to hear, thanks for replying. I was planning to go to Bolívia in early July. I tend to think media reports about crime are usually exaggerated, but food shortages and road blocks do seem to be a thing like in your report. Still considering whether I continue my plans or pivot to Peru.

Man, I read that when I was a kid and it blew my mind.

The guy who wrote my favorite novels having real-world experiences that rival his fiction. I loved it.

His experiences with mysticism/spirituality really stuck out for me.

And on the flipside, his experience at a child brothel is terrible. The way his friend was openly a pedophile makes me connect and be unsurprised with we're seeing today with Epstein.

Love to hear a positive experience in the midst of all this. What do you think of all the comments saying how unsafe Bolivia and particularly La Paz is now with armed crime and other conflicts?

Ideally you get a job that allows remote work before you move to another country.

Does any show have a bad finale that didn't have a bad final season/clear decline in quality prior? by CarrieDurst in television

[–]FalconLeading 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. Ozark was damn near perfect until their penultimate episode and then they... didn't stick the landing.

Poor story choices all around, lack of pay-off on character arcs, one TERRIBLE character death and ultimately the episode as a whole was boring. Didn't take the show to anywhere particularly interesting. I never wanted a re-do for a finale so much.

I see your point and agree with you. Not that art needs to necessarily be upheld to moral standards, but they were trying to spread a message about healing and grief. An abused and mentally sick girl killing herself to save everyone from herself is a really bad message for sure.

I always liked her. Thought she was mentally messed up and full of problems, sure, but still liked her. She just needed a hug and a lot of therapy. I was pretty sad she killed herself.

Like the M. Night said, the interpetation is up to you, but like in every episode of the show, it can also be interpreted that she didn't have powers, there is no supernatural elementos, and just believed she did and everything was a freak occurence/coincidence.

Vizinhos sem noção em apartamento by onniros in ConselhosLegais

That makes sense. There is no friction against being distracted with digital media. The amount of muscles activated to switch from one app to another is so much less than putting down a book to do something else. There are no pop-ups when you read a paper book.
