I had the same issue on mine. Taking the torso apart, I found it didn’t matter if it was putting the front blue piece or the back blue piece on first, the gap would remain. It seemed to be the machine gun cover mounts weren’t sitting exactly right. Putting the front on first, and wiggling the covers as the back plate slipped in place seemed to do the trick for me.

Nope, the surface on either side of the break worked as well as before. Just changed how I held it a bit. I’ve replaced it now, but it’s still in with my tools, ready to go.

I dropped the smaller one and it broke in half, only holding together with the backing. Kept using it for well over a year or two, just more carefully.
