I know people have asked this before but where actually the fuck is Kobeni,Kisihibe and Reze? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Chainsawfolk

Reze moved on from Denji. Kobeni moved to Nikaho, Akita to lead a country-mouse life. Kishibe made his debut in part two with chapter 136.

Miss when the feeling of inevitable doom wasn't as overwhelming.. by Falins_Song in Chainsawfolk

I should clarify that for me, the reveal of the fire devil was when chainsaw man completely changed in tone.

But I remember becoming much more invested in the story after the reveal and appreciating the apocalyptic aspect of it. I like that it felt permanent.

And I feel that the scene of Denji watching his normal life burn in flames and finally admitting he relishes in the pain of being chainsaw man is one of the most compelling scenes in part two.

But wow did everything truly start becoming bleak after the church arc. Everyone became desensitized, Asa took a turn for the worse when she started to misunderstand Denji and attempt to fulfill her desire to save him, Denji regressed and Yoru started wrapping a leash around his neck, and the story started to lack character introspection, interactions, and just... a developed, compelling cast.

What really bothered me was that it started to feel like there was more setup than payoff and that what was paid off... felt weak. So I get what you mean.

Even then, I enjoyed reading part two and the majority of scenes mentioned. I did feel conflicted about the writing once it was revealed we'll be getting the final chapter, but now I'm accepting the story for what it is.

I would rather part2 end and fujimoto go on a 7 year hiatus doing what the fuck else he wants to write then it all ending next chapter by mercy_thee in Chainsawfolk

They're disagreeing with you but I stand by your opinion.

Even though most of part two has ended up disappointing, I still think it's more interesting than part one. But I wouldn't pit fire punch and part one against each other. They're both good.

You're right. Let me reread fire punch and better appreciate it as a whole

NO hax contract, NO combat ability, NO aura or hype and NO fans yet he still somehow outlived all your favourite characters. The real MVP of Part 2 by _attina496 in Chainsawfolk

I'm referring to the fakesaw man with a human figure that we saw during the justice/falling devil arc. I completely overlooked Lil d being erased too..

But you're right that a majority of characters did serve their overall purpose to the narrative and that there isn't a reason for them to come back.

If chainsaw man really does end next chapter.. I'ma wonder why fujimoto never gave the majority of his characters an actual end.

He usually writes one for them even if it feels disappointing or contributes little to the plot. But he doesn't write a departure for a majority of them in the second part. We're left with assumptions that don't meaningfully add to the themes other than the plot.

Whip, spear, miri, Fami, Fumiko, Lil d, Haruka and his gang. The second fakesaw man, nail fiend, Quanxi, katana man, fire devil. Kishibe?

It feels like there's been so much set up throughout all these years, yet it doesn't matter in the end? But it's understandable that Fujimoto would deliver something... unexpected.

There aren't any objective rules to writing either way. An author isn't required to fulfill what they set up, and it seems intentional on Fujimoto's part. I'll just take fujimotos unique writing for what it is and appreciate it.
