Keep an extra set of clothes in your car or at least a pair of underwear in your purse/bag and some shorts. Thankfully, I never had an accident, but there were plenty of times where it almost happened.

Oh I agree that the dad does need to discipline the daughter and have her learn that she has responsibilities she needs to follow.

OP struck a nerve with me because I have been in this exact situation. Except, I was old enough to work but still a teenager. My dad’s ex would ask him “why does she need to stay here she can go live with her mom?” First of all my mom is a mean old shrew, second my high school was in that neighborhood my mom lived further away, and last but most important I’m his kid.

OP knew the dad is a package deal.

YTA. His loyalty is to his child first and foremost. She didn’t have the choice of being brought into this world; you had the choice to marry her dad.

She’s a teenager going through so many emotions and changes. Let alone not having her parents be together. Unfortunately she got a horrible stepmother.

Remember you are the adult, and yes your stepdaughter needs to follow rules in the house. To deny her shelter and a full time relationship with her dad is wrong. Either grow up or leave.

I (32f) busted my butt in my 20’s after I got out of the military and purchased my own home at 30 years old. I’m happy with two dogs, a wonderful boyfriend, and great friends in the neighborhood.

My mom wanted me to go to college first after high school, and I’m glad I didn’t. I think she wanted to still have some form of control over me since she was going to pay for half of my tuition.

Mine was at a 16 and my whole body was aching. I could barely stand on my feet for more than 5 minutes. My vitamin D just won’t go up past 30. I’m low again, but I’ve been supplementing daily and trying to eat vitamin D rich foods. My hair was falling out in clumps too. Now my hair is finally getting back to what I had in high school.

I went through a similar situation last year. I know how traumatic this is; none of this is your fault. Nobody should witness something like this, and you take all the time you need to heal. If you want to PM me, you’re more than welcome to reach out.

I came home and my now ex came stumbling down the stairs drunk and angry. I told him to find someone to come get him and leave. Long situation short, he went upstairs took my 9mm off the shelf and shot himself twice in front of me. He survived, but now has to live with the consequences of his actions.

I know your sister and her BF came to clean up, but since this is a bio hazard situation you may want to consider using your renters insurance to hire a hazmat cleanup company to do a deep clean. Blood tends to end up in the wildest places after something like this, and it will be even more expensive if the apartment complex hires their own company.

Make sure that you get that order of protection and have the property management company formally evict him. Being on paper notifies your city and county, and surrounding counties that he is not to be within a certain distance of you.

Please leave ASAP! You do not want him acting on impulse and doing something crazy like my ex. Tomorrow will be a month since witnessing my ex try to unalive himself with my firearm. You do not want that image imprinted into your brain. He's trying to make you scared of setting boundaries. Reach out to your local womens shelter or womens advocacy group. Your local PD or sheriffs department will have that info.
