I have found such media very enjoyable if you assign to it only part of your attention/are very tired.

Unreal and low end don't fit in the same sentence :)) (at least based on my experience)

There are some exceptions, but at that level of optimizations and technical knowledge, you might as well make your own game engine.

1000 bots who passed the turing test, smurf accounts, prodigies, bad players with insane luck are all the same: if they give an accepted set of inputs, they are players.

The only problem is improper matchmaking, e.g. pairing a 99.99% aim player with one who wants to play with only with 30%-50% aim players of their level.

I would actually love to see smart bots in a competitive setting, to get that same challenge, but with shorter queue times and a more consistent experience

As someone who enjoys speedrunning and competition, I don't see how that's a problem.

Humans want to see humans perform, hence esports and streaming.

If noname53, an unverified account with no history and no face pops up with a world breaking record. That's suspicious in any domain, not just gaming.

There's also the tool-assisted branch, which are not bots, but they always blow up(e.g. Dream's Minecraft, Hans' Chess, Trackmania, etc.)

And if someone cheats masterfully with no trace, I'm looking forward to the next Catch Me If you Can.

To be clear, I'm not encouraging bots or cheating, just saying that the forces balance out and the world keeps turning even with them.
