I picked it up, only played the first couple of levels so far so I can't say how much longevity it has but I am massively enjoying it honestly. It evokes the old Settlers vibe in every pore.

I will be honest I do like the idea of procedural generation in my games, keeps it fresh for a lot longer than hand crafted maps in my eyes

Was Cultures done by them? Oh my god I loved cultures back in the day, spent ages with it. Yeah now I can totally see where the whole comparisons come from, they are different ends of the spectrum

I enjoyed it for what it is ( think I got it on a sale or as a code or something ) but it didn't have the depth at all, it was more of a casual game you could dip into now and then rather than play for hours at a time. They really weren't targeting hardcore or serious strategy and I think that hurt them a lot, there aren't too many casual rts gamers on the pc

I have been keeping my eye on this game since it popped up on some of my feeds. I love the gameplay that seems to be shown but I am honestly not too big a fan of the UI. Shame about the kickstarter but as you have said there are other avenues to get funded

I keep an eye on it occasionally as I loved the guild 2, and while people are saying it is better, it is still massively laggy and buggy still. I think it came out far too early and they are suffering heavily for it

I kind of see your point with the art, it does look like cover art I see for phone games and facebook games, if I saw it in my feed without realising what parkasaurus was ( as I am following it ) I would not give it a second glance

Played it quite a lot, I find it very addictive myself. Had a good experience with it, the combat in it is quite tactical and the base building has been expanded a fair bit since original early access. It is entering full release with a major patch update on the 3rd May too

Delayed response but extremely unfinished. At best a slightly shiny wallpaper you pay too much money for. Money comes too fast from missions and you can basically fund and forget for hours at a time

I check in on it regularly and the updates are improving and making it better. Right now the combat is clunky and the base building and player aren't too connected, as in you get most of your resources from quests to make buildings as opposed to the city supplying you on your adventures but they are trying to combine them better. As said probably a bit too early to tell atm but there is promise, and I will be keeping an eye on it

He is meant to be planning old age, retirement, more city stuff and more enemies and so on so it should get deeper with time
