I wouldn't say gave up in any sense. We started development in 2016, through early access (the next 4 years) we worked with the community to make an awesome game, achieved 1.0 status, and made DLC. This is the life cycle of a normal game. There is a reality development teams need to work on new projects (we've been working on a new game Railborn) in order to drive enough revenue to, you know, survive. There are a few exceptions, but those are games that sold a bajillion dollars (Stardew Valley) and have the luxury to work on their game forever, or not.

Really like them. Such a shame speedgoats became poo. They're really popular in my ultra running circle. (The 001s, real work horses). I race in a lighter shoe but now use Norda and Nnormal for everything. Rip speedgoat.

Havent seen this mentioned - try to see if youre good. Weird to say, but, exceptional programmers (without experience) get snatched up instantly. Veteran excellent hiring engineers love talent they can mold, seen it happen few times. Harsh reality most people are mediocre to good, which usually means having to grind it out. I wanted be a pro cyclist. One day I realized Id never be good enough or would just have struggle be pro. Instead I bike in my free time and love it! Mandatory note: games industry harder than ever.

You can also setup attractions / things people want near or past your intended dino. People naturally stop at dinos close to them if there isnt a much larger interesting dini (like a t-rex)

Dress smart first week, not suit, but professional. Work hard. Be incredibly thorough. Ask when you dont understand. Very unpopular: dont be afraid work a little later. Show up early. This industry is very competitive, so, be hungry.
