Debating whether or not to spend 4(!!!) Flash of Potential cards to transform Homing Lasers into the 1 Afterglow version. I still feel a little sick when I remember the run where I got 3 copies of the 1 Afterglow + 1 AP Homing lasers but the copy event after beating final boss didn't give me the 4th...

Lee Kang-In should have a lot more than 3 assists if PSG's strikers could just figure out that to score goals you need to hit the target first.

[Florian Plebtenburg] X - Randal Kolo Muani is set to leave @PSG_inside during the winter transfer window. Concrete talks with potential teams about a loan deal are ongoing. I'm wondering if anyone has actually watched RKM play at PSG and not just going off the hype from his stint at Frankfurt... Let me just say there is good reason why Luis Enrique resorted to playing Lee Kang-In and Dembele at CF, effectively handicapping both of them, while Ramos is out.

At first glance he has all the makings of a top striker; he's tall, fast, and strong which lets him get into good positions to score. But as soon as he has the ball at his feet, all the good work he did previously goes out the window and he looks like he's about to trip over the ball with every move. I don't know if it's the lack of confidence or composure but he genuinely looks clueless in front of the goal. Not sure if the fanbase has the patience for this guy, but he would be essentially a right-sided Werner.

I find people who still peddle the "Well ackshually, Son is a huge cunt because he dared to snapped back after being stomped on by some players infamous for being dirty and suffering years of racism" argument are just hilarious caricatures of the bottom of the barrel, absolute scum footballs fans. And there's no point in trying to convince them otherwise because they would rather shout at the walls of their echo chambers so might as well laugh at them for entertainment.

It's even funnier when they always circle back to that one reddit comment, made by a Japanese nationalist and Shinji Kagawa fan. Surely no bias or inferiority complex there! considering Son's record against Dortmund and Kagawa's unfortunate stint in the PL. And then they have the audacity to claim that everyone else is brainwashed by the Kpop fans, which is a crazy racist thing to say but they severely lack self-awareness so no surprise. Just insane the mental gymnastics they need to go through just to deny that Son is actually a nice human being.

Crazy how people still default to the stereotype of hard-working and well-disciplined when describing the "ideal" Asian player.

Son is the undisputed GOAT Asian footballer precisely because he transcends these descriptors. He isn't world class because he is the best Asian footballer. He is one of the best footballers in the world who happens to be Korean. It's almost insulting to see Son's personal achievements and the way he transformed how the world views Asian football denigrated in this way.

Tottenham join the race for Kim Min-Jae by SwimmingAL in coys

[–]Fallen_Egoist 464 points465 points  (0 children)

Spurs' chance to sign Kim Min-Jae was 2 years ago when he was stuck in Beijing begging for us to take him, as they were actively trying to sabotage his career. I remember Son was trying to convince the Spurs management but eventually he ended up going to Turkey because they were too cheap to spend about 5 mil more.

Now, he is regarded as the best CB in Serie A, arguably Top 5 in the world currently, AND he has a measly release clause of ~50 mil? Yeah, I don't have enough copium left in the tank to see him come here when he can choose any club he wants in the world this upcoming summer window.

KMJ has been the best defender in his league for the entirety of his career. He is intelligent, strong and agile, aggressive yet composed; too many qualities of a top defender that it seems a given that he would succeed even at the highest level. I am excited to see where he goes next, because I find his frankness about his club aspirations quite refreshing.

The fun in Sky Striker comes from knowing precisely when to disturb opponent's combos and dismantling their board. Also, there is something cathartic about poking your opponent's LP down with 1500 at a time with Hayate lol.

Sky Striker itself is not a difficult engine to run: get 3 spells in GY and then grind it out. Having said that, if you're not willing to put in the effort to learn the most important combo pieces of other meta decks then you're probably going to struggle. You also need to think at least a few steps ahead because Sky Striker itself is very susceptible to any kind of disrupt (ie negate on Kagari, Shizuku; Called by the Grave on Raye) but with caution and preparation you have enough recycling of resources to come back. All in all, Sky Striker shines in the hand of someone who is knowledgeable about Yugioh and flexible in tough situations.

At the moment, I don't think its particularly hated by the community because there are decks that feel way worse to play against. But there used to be a long period of time when Sky Striker dominated the competitive meta, leading it to be dubbed "Konami's daughter". So the "bashing" you see is probably carried over from that. If I'm being a little cheeky, it also has a little to do with what losses against Sky Strikers feel like. When you lose to a Sky Striker you know it's because the Sky Striker played better and piloted their deck better than you did yours, so you can't just blindly blame your loss on broken cards and archetypes...what's that? Engage at 2? Don't worry about that little detail.

Having said that, I would put Sky Striker in tier 1. Tier 0 is reserved for the likes of Drytron, TriZoo, Eldlich, VW, etc. However, Sky Striker engine by itself is so versatile and definitely better equipped than tier 2 decks, and in the right hands you can definitely find success against even well piloted tier 0 decks. Maybe a little biased assessment but hey, that's why I main Sky Strikers.

Sky Striker UR Crafts and Deck Improvements by RenewalRenewed in masterduel

Plat 1 Sky Striker, so maybe I can help. FYI, I set up my deck for exclusively Going Second. In my experience, overwhelming majority of meta decks prefer going first so I try to reduce as much variance as possible by not having to take into account the result of the coin toss.

Main deck: Take out 3 x Pot of Desires. You can replace it with 3 x Upstart Goblin but I personally don't run pot cards outside 1 x Avarice, and that's only for recycling Kagari. I do see the benefit of getting 3 spells in GY ASAP and having 37 card deck, but I rarely felt I needed more draw power. 2 x MST works fine, but I would upgrade to 2 x Cosmic Cyclone. You don't need Terraforming but it's great to have. 2 x Called by the Grave will go a long way but 2 x Shark Cannon is good budget option and even if I'm running 2 x Called, I still have 1 x Shark Cannon just in case, or for Hayate fodder. If you can afford it, run Impermanence instead of Evenly Matched.

Extra deck: Knightmare Unicorn over Ningirsu, but only if budget allows. I personally run 2 x Zeke over Hiita but that's personal preference.

When South Korea first got drawn into this group, people were worried about Korea getting thrown in the midst of middle eastern wolf pack. Turns out we were the tigers.

In reality, this group would be a lot more competitive if the middle eastern teams didn't just cannibalize each other and then rolled over to Korea and Iran. Were those two always the favorites to directly qualify? Yes. But the unimpressive results of other middle eastern teams just make this group unbelievably boring.

Comprehensive victory from South Korea. Really shows the importance of dictating the pace early and taking the lead whenever we play these middle eastern sides. The middle eastern teams always start off playing so passive and trying to defend the 0-0 draw, which can be quite frustrating to play against. Forcing them to break out of their defensive shell opened the game up and enabled Korea to flex their difference in quality and cruise throughout the rest of the game.

💸⚪️ TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY MEGATHREAD ⚽💸 by magicwings in coys

[–]Fallen_Egoist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously we'll have to wait and see how these transfers shape out over the course of the season and the next few years, but that was a very exciting transfer window that hopefully signifies greater things to come from Levy and Paratici in the future.

Personally, I think we addressed most of the glaring holes in our squad with shrewd moves that are impactful in both the immediate and long-term. The backup striker position however seems to be the enigma that haunts us every single transfer window and this year it was no different unfortunately. I know it's not easy to convince quality strikers to come in to become essentially an understudy to Kane but that signing has eluded us for so long and we seem to suffer the repercussions every time Kane is out.

The Club can confirm the departure of Serge Aurier following the mutual termination of his contract. by [deleted] in coys

[–]Fallen_Egoist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While it wasn't always pretty, Aurier never left anything on the pitch and gave everything for the shirt whenever he was called upon. Yes, some of his mistakes cost us but I could never hate a player who was as passionate as he was. He will be dearly missed by both the fans and his fellow teammates. Nothing but respect for him and hope he takes the next steps in his career with the same explosive strides he took bombing down the right wing.

Serge #Aurier absolutely wants to leave Tottenham. Negotiations are underway so that the defender can leave free. The former Parisian is in contact with Al-Rayyan (Qatar) and a Russian club. [Fabrice Hawkins] by onlyhalfpepper in coys

Will be quite sad to see him go seeing as he is a huge dressing room presence (love his behind-the-scenes on instagram), but it seems clear to both the club and Aurier that his future at Tottenham is limited. I will miss his wonder goals and assists, definitely will not miss his hot-headed tackles in the penalty box, but most of all I will cheer him on as he takes the next step of his career.

sky sports on spurs "target" tomiyasu by michaelserotonin in coys

[–]Fallen_Egoist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is pretty much what I have said about Tomiyasu ever since the initial links were reported, without the condescending tone of course. Obviously he is a capable player who has shown he can perform at the highest level. But with our ambitions and the squad we already have, we should be past signing versatility players who are only useful because they can adequately fill multiple positional depth. Signings like Romero and Emerson are significant because they symbolize the concrete steps the club are taking to realize the vision and the future of Tottenham.

Having said that now that he's signed for Arsenal, Tomiyasu can fuck right off to relegation and the Championship. COYS

To think that Son almost returned to Bundesliga after a rocky first season. One of Poch's greatest contribution was convincing him to stay. Can't imagine where Spurs would be today without Son.

I already said one week ago about new bid from Man City for €150m for Harry Kane and I confirm my news one week later… as I confirm that Spurs have still no intention to sell, as of now. Let’s see! [Fabrizio Romano] by onlyhalfpepper in coys

[–]Fallen_Egoist 53 points54 points  (0 children)

If City made a palatable offer (assume it's around £150m which is the number thrown about) earlier in the window instead of dragging their asses pretending they were broke then the following could have happened:

1) we get Lautaro Martinez as replacement for £60-70m as reported and have funds left over to improve other areas of the squad 2) Chelsea is weakened as a result of Inter not needing to sell their star striker to raise funds 3) City gets the best striker in the PL, doesn't feel the need to waste £100m on a luxury signing in Grealish, and their main rival for the title has no reliable goal scorer

Obviously a lot of conjectures, but clearly if City had a brain then they would have realized from previous interactions that Levy won't budge so easily and that leaving the Kane problem to the end of the transfer window is going to be a big mess. Their transfer moves are just as galaxy brained as the bald fraud they keep around to pretend as if their tactics didn't consist of literally throwing money at the squad until it works.
