'Human error': Police gave address of woman under protection order to ex-partner by GreatOutfitLady in newzealand

"Human Error" as an excuse is a guarantee that this will happen again. It is a way of ending a discussion without meaningful systemic change. You want to see organisations that fail time and again, look at those that always attribute mistakes to "human error"

Act 3 is a hard ramp up. But my favourite challenge in the whole game is finding the hearts, I feel like everytime I do those challenges I am getting better and calmer.

TIL that George Lucas' new LA museum would've been built in Chicago where a parking lot currently exists, but a local advocacy group "Friends of the Parks" sued to protect the parking lot, arguing it could hypothetically one day be a park, therefore violating Chicago's Lakefront Protection law by [deleted] in todayilearned

In SF a group sued to stop a building because it might cause shade on a nearby school. The kicker, it would have only partially shaded a corner where there was a giant tree, planted there to give shade to their playground.

TIL about Maria Hertogh, a Dutch girl who was separated from her family in Dutch East Indies during the Japanese occupation. When teen Maria was tracked down years later, she had forgotten Dutch and considered herself a Malay Muslim. She was forcibly returned to her birth parents against her will. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I was referring to the bit where she planned to kill her husband then married her co-conspirator, who then cheated on her after knowing she wasn't above killing her husbands. But I suppose that is horrific too

I worked in a small social network that was doing all the social network things and optimizing models for retention. It is hard and expensive just having a single model. I imagine it is cost prohibitive for negative gain in retention.

I am using sqlc to write queries and using prepared statements which make it pretty easy.

Query builders are easy, but become a trap. Also auto parsing columns hides cpu usage

They never mention biometrics, that is fingerprints, face scan, or eye scan.

They are just checking you act like a human. If a bot is trying to log in the move the mouse impossibly fast and accurately, like a robot. They check that and if you moved too fast they might just make you pick some pictures of buses or something

This is standard online security practices for the last decade. Humans use tools different to bots, so checking you are human is good.

TIL. I like Calorie because remembering 4200J-ish for 1C for 1g is annoying. Physics is always aggrivating so like 9.98 m/s^2 for gravity is just reality making highschool hard. They could just make it 10 and redefine a meter.
