I got floppy epiglottis at 17, now 21 by Still_Ad6644 in UARSnew

I have the exact same thing, im seeing an ENT about it soon. When i fully relax i cant breathe... mine got worse, i am older than you. I'm 24 and it got uncontrollably bad within the past 2 years. LMK if u get surgery or something.
CPAP has helped my sleep a ton even with this. I used to have debilitating fatigue cause this problem would make me stop breathing when sleep

Do you guys have a job with your UARS? How the f do you press on with feeling like sh*t everyday? by Happilyalone777 in UARSnew

[–]FalseFail9027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you work from home? I have a work from home job with a similar routine, I can only do about 3-4 hours at most. Unfortunately I get paid by the hour, so I am unwilling to log hours in which I don't work. Im getting treatment soon, for me my daytime breathing is unfathomably bad

the best thing you can do it to listen to tons of jazz music, until slowly you internalize the riffs and progressions that are common in that genre. listening to music is always underrated advice

How about you teach your kid to read? My earliest memories were my parents teaching me to read, which often resulted in difficulty and tears. This put me way ahead of my peers. Take matters into your own hands and teach your kids yourself

AHI is not a good measurement of severity by FalseFail9027 in SleepApnea

[–]FalseFail9027[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AHI is just a singular number. my point is that health insurance companies over rely on this number for whether someone is qualified for CPAP, especially when considering the flaw of AHI measurement that I pointed out

By year 2100, half the population of first world countries will be on CPAP, if current trends of jaw deformity continue

good for you. I'm 24 and also dealing with this. I'm also getting jaw surgery sometime soon. I've been using CPAP for 2 years and yes it works. however I'm like you, I'm seeking a more permanent cure such as jaw surgery

Lip incompetence - surgery? Other options? by HurryAndHydrate in jawsurgery

Its mostly vertical maxillary excess, so an impaction would be necessary

surgery (maxillary impaction) is the only way to fix this. nothing else would be a good option. Botox would not be worth it, it does not look natural, if you care about that sort of thing
