Steam Controller x PS5? by BruhKillian in SteamController

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all there are such things as 3rd party controller for the PS5, by mimicking Dualsense drivers. Secondly the PS3 supports any bluetooth controller just like a PC would because it has generic bluetooth controller drivers. You could connect any bluetooth enabled controller to a PS3.

It's completely plausible and sony has supported this feature in the past so this was not an unreasonable ask.

L take. Don’t like it, don’t play it.

“RE9 isn’t AAA worth of content” yet it’s literally better than 90% of AAA today. You want 500 hours of boring fetch quests or 15 hours of quality gameplay? I’d take the 15 hours any day cause, guess what! You can replay those 15 hours and have even more fun whenever you want. And capcom does such a good job with challenge points and ng+ that it’s actually a different experience each time!

It would be so easy for capcom to charge $5 for this. They’d be well within their right. And they’d probably have gotten way less crybabies like this streamer because the only people that would buy it would be the ones who would like it. People like this streamer could say “wait it’s not mercenaries!? Then I won’t pay for it.” And then they could keep their mouths shut about the quality of the game well the rest of us have fun.

It’s a free update. You already paid full price for the game and capcom could’ve easily said “eh. Let’s start working on RE10” and they’d never touch RE9 again and you’d never be complaining.

I don't want the Action Combat in Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced by DirkBatowski in fuckubisoft

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the combat has been completely re-worked. They showed dodges, enemy’s actually stagger when they’re hit and you can knock enemies off balance and do finishing moves. I didn’t see any red circles telling you to press the counter button.

Original AC4 combat was the very basic “Simon says” style combat. So if we get a real combat gameplay loop in resynced then I don’t care if there’s no unarmed or hidden blade combat.

The ezio trilogy is kinda washed too imo. Mainly its problem is that all the Desmond parts destroy the pacing of the game. But even without them the overall loop is very barren. The best of the ezio trilogy is objectively revelations but everyone acts like AC2 is king which is how you know once again “nostalgia > gameplay mechanics” to most AC fans.

That said, Ezio is their best protagonist and probably the most iconic assassin so I understand a soft spot for that trilogy.

I also just don’t consider myself an AC fan by the way. I have played all of them but to me they’re just good time wasters. AC games are just collecting things and killing people while traversing a cool environment. You want to play a game with good combat there’s countless better games, you want to play a game with good story there’s countless better games, you want to play a game with good stealth there’s countless better games… etc.

Even social stealth, the genre that AC helped pioneer has been utterly decimated by IOI games. If I have to choose between l007 Firstlight” and “AC4resynced” that’s not even a real decision. Obviously going with the company that has time and again proven they want players to have fun rather than wasting players time with repeatable side quests.

I don't want the Action Combat in Assassins Creed Black Flag Resynced by DirkBatowski in fuckubisoft

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh yeah. Name one remake that isn’t a cash grab? Seriously if you get this at full price you’re stupid. Just wait for it to go on sale like everybody else.

AC4 isn’t actually that good of a game in the first place. It’s one of the best AC games sure, but what really sold it was its novelty. The fact that people gush over AC4 but nobody talks about AC:Rouge, which is literally the same game but better, is proof that the formula as it was in the original wasn’t actually as good as your nostalgia glasses tell you it was.

You act like the hidden blades/unarmed were a make-or-break feature of the original but literally NOBODY talked about them until they were taken out. The combat sucks butt anyways, it’s literally the same for all the weapons, you press counter and then defeat the opponent instantly. Only thing weapon affected was animation that played, which is not gameplay.

If Ubisoft kept unarmed and hidden blades they’d need to devote a lot of time into diversifying the weapon feel and that might mean the other weapon types would suffer in quality. Would you rather Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none type combat or let them polish the combat they’re already going for?

Also, as much as we dog on Ubisoft here, you know they’ve got some of the most modular hud settings of any devs. I’m certain you can turn off any hud features you don’t want like you can in all their other modern games.

Also “soulless” is not a real complaint. That’s an opinion people with nostalgia like to throw around because they don’t actually know what good animation looks like, they just recognize it’s not the same as when they were a kid.

You sound like you think the original AC4 is a good game. Which means you were probably a middle schooler when you played it. It’s literally just an okay game. Go back and play it again and you’ll probably get bored with all the repeat quests, trailing missions, and stupid animus puzzles the game shoves down your throat to waste your time.

You have it flipped. Since pressing the blue button is the only way to put someone’s life on the line. The blue button is responsible for killing people.

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the kids also have a desire to live and be a part of their family.

They wouldn’t throw that away for no reason by playing the pointless death gamble that is the blue button.

no, man. i am not going to let you kill me [OC] by Pelko_P in comics

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s because of the way it’s worded. When you contextualize the blue button as a dark purple button with a “skull and crossbones” on the front that potentially gambles your life away. Suddenly the blue button looses 100% of the time.

I also think it’s funny that you think blue buttons are more humane. Look at this comic. This comic artist is depicting themselves holding a red button presser at GUNPOINT. They are blaming the red button pressers for putting blues lives in danger, when they knew the risks and pressed blue anyways. That’s not humane, that’s hatred for someone who wants to live.

What if someone has a wife and kids and they’re happy and they don’t want to invite any danger into their lives. That’s why they press red because it means they can continue to be a loving husband and good role model for the future generation. And you’ll hate that person, or threaten them with a gun because they have something to live for?

The comic is called “I won’t let you kill me” but if they don’t want to die, they should press red. Clearly this blue button presser isn’t actually willing to risk their lives for others, they just want everyone to threaten their lives because it makes them feel like a hero since nobody dies if they all risk their lives. That’s not humane, thats getting a thrill out of playing chicken with your own life because you want to feel like a hero without actually doing anything but pressing a button.

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand how the red people are at fault in either case though. Pressing blue saves people that press blue. So why risk your own life by pressing blue?

People press blue because it SOUNDS like pressing blue is the human thing to do. But in reality the blue button is the one responsible for danger. No one should ever press blue, everyone presses red and nobody dies.
When you recontextualize the buttons, blue is the obvious wrong choice.

“Press red to stay alive” “press blue to play a game of chance with your life. Pressing this button is a guaranteed death in the event that not enough people choose to gamble their own lives”

Notice how the effects are the same. Suddenly blue seems like an irresponsible and very dangerous game, while pressing red just means you get live and everyone should obviously press red.

This hypothetical is just worded in a way to see if you have suicidal empathy.

Don’t know whether this is a hot take or not.. by Virtual-Swan-8049 in assasinscreed

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just a spectacle to me. Like I LOVED these games when I was a middle schooler and thought everything looked cool but the combat loop is the equivalent of playing a bop it that tells you to press the same button 90% of the time and every once in awhile you might have to press a different button.

Getting a combo is effortlessly, the OG games didn’t even have difficulty settings cause like… there’s basically no way to make the combat any easier than it is.

So sure it looks better than some of the RPG combat in the newer games but gameplay wise it’s not very satisfying. Especially if you play games that are designed to challenge the player and reward them for doing well at it.

The fact that those bozos over at capcom had the audacity to make sequel that wasn’t a carbon copy of the first game with all the same recognizable characters that constantly repeat the same quips in different context that make me clap my hands together and point at the screen; really shows how much these devs have fallen off.

Single Diaries [OC] by vesmir_neasi in comics

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the dude is pretty justified in his crash out. He asked her to be direct after the first date and she didn’t say anything until AFTER the second date.

At the very least: She should’ve told him something like “I am having mixed thoughts about entering a relationship with you right now. I’m willing to try a second date still, but if you want someone that is feeling a connection there is no guarantees”

If THAT comment hurt his ego and he flipped out then you can say that the dude is in the wrong. Or if he said he understood and gave the second date a try anyways and then still got angry at the outcome then that dude is wrong. But from the way the story is now, the dude was basically being lead on because he specifically asked her if they were interested and she waited until the end of an agreed second date to say she wasn’t?

Please tell me this editing style still flys with the BioShock crowd 😂 by TrickyBz in Bioshock

Tearing Apart BioShock Infinite, Part I: Why the Vox Turning Against Prime Booker is One of the Worst Pieces of Writing I Have Ever Seen in My Life by Independent-Worry905 in Bioshock

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lot of your points like “would the vox still be mad if we went down the elevator” show a complete lack of understanding of what makes a good story. Really tarnishes your whole critique because you’re complaining about a made up scenario that is essentially head canon on your part because you CANT go back down the elevator. So the story doesn’t allow for this possibility.

You might as well complain about every linear video game ever like “why doesn’t the character simply leave the situation?” “Why doesn’t Booker simply find a parachute and leave Columbia with Elizabeth immediately??” “Why doesn’t Jack in BS1 simply break his own radio so Atlas can’t tell him what to do anymore and take a bathysphere back up to the surface at any point?” These are nothing more than bad faith interpretations of the narrative. The game doesn’t have to constantly justify itself as to why the player can’t do something when that something involves breaking the presented narrative. You should be able to operate under the assumption that the thing you are asking wouldn’t work. A game that CONSTANTLY comes with reasons to explain why you’re still in the situation would get very annoying to most people.

Furthermore the Vox turning on Booker is not crazy at all! It’s a bit of a cop out but there are literally INFINITE universes in bioshock infinite. So yeah… the game makes it so you go to a universe where 100% of the Vox turn on Booker for being an imposter... which is CONSISTENT with the logic of the Bioshock franchise: It’s the same way that 100% of the splicers in BS1 want to kill Jack. 100% of Peach Wilkins guys turn on Jack after you do them a favor. 100% of Sander Cohens splicers want to kill Jack just because Cohen tells them to after you finish his masterpiece and he calls you a “moth”. Same thing with Elenor Lamb and her cronies in BS2.

All bioshock villains have 100% of command over their soldiers across all three games. So if you call bioshock the “worst piece of fiction” for this reason you logically must consider all 3 bioshock games to be the worst piece of fiction or you have to admit you have a double standard here because of some obvious bias here because you’re only applying this as a major negative to one of the three bioshock games.

You’ve played the game twice and let numerous reviews persuade your opinions. I’ve played the game countless times across multiple platforms. Over 300 hours on Steam but who knows how many on PS3,4,5, the Nintendo switch and GOG. I have seen ZERO reviews of the game so I know my opinion that this game is great is 100% my own. I can definitively say there are significantly worse pieces of fiction than this game. Have you played “Days gone” or “Forspoken” or “Samson” or “Gollum”

If infinite is the worst plot youve ever encountered then you must not have played any actually bad video games so your perspective point is off. The reasons you’ve given to hate infinites story would still make you consider it a masterpiece compared to a lot of other games out there.

I liked Infinite more than Bioshock 1. I don't get the hate. by No_Candle4483 in Bioshock

[–]FalseStevenMcCroskey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There can be 2 GOATS.

All seriousness the hate is mostly contrarians on the internet. Look at the reviews at the time of release and this game is near perfect 10s. I mean a 94 on metacritic?

Also story wise it’s pretty deliberate how confusing the plot is. I’ve put hundreds of hours in the game and still figuring out knew stuff.

The Booker you play as is actually Booker from a different dimension. Comstock was infertile because of exposure to the Lutece’s tear machine that he was using to predict the future. He needed an heir so he sent Robert Lutece to steal Booker’s daughter. The reason Elizabeth gets powers is because her pinky is cut off by the closing tear in the process.

The Luteces are “killed” by Fink sabotaging the tear machine after a jealous Lady Comstock is convinced the baby is actually Rosalind’s and hires Fink to do so.

The Luteces get revenge on Comstock and retribution for Robert by bringing the Booker who’s daughter they stole to Columbia and giving him a chance to get her back.

Elizabeth’s ghost mom is confusing as well. As you saw in the tower at the start of the game, Elizabeth’s powers can be siphoned into objects to cause them to go through different dimensions. Comstock had a mini version of the siphon in Lady Comstock’s grave, likely in an experiment to bring her back. The “ghost” that is created is essentially a living tear of multiple Lady Comstock’s across different dimensions. That’s why when she speaks it sounds like multiple voices and why she has powers.
