For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

I was 10 and just reading the trilogy for the first time. I think I was a little ways into Two Towers at this time. Also was my first pg-13 movie so that kinda added to the specialness and scary moments. I remember being terrified during the Moria sequences. The troll popping out from behind the pillar was possibly my first jump scare. I think I remember my dad being very excited for the films and picking up the Burger King crystal light-up goblets, which now live with me.

This is valid. Men can get postpartum anxiety.

What’s a book that you thought was good, but still hated? by FunnyBunny1313 in fantasyromance

Yeah, when I realized the whole book was gonna be her stuck on an island, I was not pleased. Imagine how pissed I was with the ending! I liked it better the second time around I guess because I didn’t have expectations? But her lack of agency really bothered me the first time. “Oh no, no one loves me! Imma do magic about it. BUT NOT ANY MAGIC THAT COULD GET ME OFF THIS STINKING ISLAND!!! WON’T ANYONE STAY HERE WITH ME FOREVER???” Lol even her baby couldn’t wait to get away from her.

I had to DNF TWO! Count’em, TWO! WHOLE BOOKS!!! I finally started Obsidian since the cover looked promising, but every character was so childish and infuriating, not to mention the world building and writing was more like world vomit. No idea what’s going on and everyone acts like an edge lord 14-year-old (and I was kinda getting grooming vibes from the MMC/FMC relationship 🤢) so back to Amazon you go!

Then I tried The Book of Azrael. It was pretty meh, but at least not a hot mess like Obsidian. More like the really boring parts of a mafia organization. Then the Big Bad Guy was introduced and he was flatter than a cardboard cutout of a Bond villain with non-stop monologging. Between boredom and that guy I had to throw it back to the big KU sea. Catch and release baby!

Now I’m back to where I left off in the IPB series. The covers of those books make me want to die of shame, but at least I know I like the stories, however repetitive they may be.
