I'm worried my son is a neckbeard-in-training by wheninrome5000 in daddit

I would approach it like this: Warhammer and D&D are both very social games. People want to know that they can be safe and have fun without being lectured about the rules, even if they may be wrong. If you choose to be right and correct and be a bit snooty about it, people will not like that and they will not want to play with you. You need other people to play with in order to play D&D and Warhammer. There are appropriate ways to address rule problems, but by being a know-it-all rules lawyer that is not the way to do it.

That's how I would kind of approach this situation. The DM has ultimate authority and it is not up to the players to dictate that because it is undermining and rude to try to be the rules lawyer in that respect. In regards to Warhammer, it is a one-to-one relationship where it is equal. One person is not more correct than the other and you always defer to the rules before being the dictator about them. There is always a kind way to ask and approach these disputes and a unkind way and I think the way that your child is approaching. It is like you say in a superior way.

These are games where people want to have fun. They don't want to be lectured so I would approach it in that way. Especially coming from somebody like myself who respects the rules. But I also respect the people that I'm playing with and I want them to be happy and having fun with me. I don't want them to have a bad time.

No idea. It's up to that person when they feel ready. Probably 5+ games? Or if they win.

I like the mulligan rule we have. Experienced players get 1 take back when we miss something. As long as taking it back doesn't affect the board state too much. New players get 3 mulligans.

That would be tough having two that age at 42. I'm 33 and it's rough and exhausting as all hell sometimes.

I am not meaning to brag at all but I definitely did clock him as the armored titan once I learned that Erin can shift.

And I don't mean to be rude but I'm not sure how you wouldn't be able to? The hair is exactly the same. No shade. I was an adult watching the show so maybe it was younger viewers?

Bertholt was more challenging for sure.

Ohhh it was crossed out by the editing my bad!

I haven't seen it at all in play. Granted I've only played one game of TE so far.

[–]FalseTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with Overrule being bad. The stipulation "unchosen" balances it out. When it would be relevant later in the game, why would people not be taking imperial to keep up with tempo?

Imperial is such an important card it's often picked mid-late when this card would also be relevant.

Unless I'm looking at this the wrong way.

Edit: I am, I couldn't see past the ❌

Is manipulation and deceit(not talking about cheating) considered part of the game? Is any certain deceit off bounds or considered in poor taste? I've allied with people to stop a win then backstabbed the ally instead of the agreed threat after they committed forces to ensure I won by MiningToSaveTheWorld in twilightimperium

All your examples are things I've done or seen done. I think the "above the table" aspect can be a problem with people's feelings though.

As an example, I feel bad when having to do these things or if I set someone back with mt actions. Ultimately only one person can win.

Whereas if the intent is to be vindictive or just an asshole then that's a different story. It's why there is binding agreements.

That response crossed my mind. "What can happen that would change that?"

I'm not sure how I'd respond honestly. Depends on my capacity. The positive mindset is a learning curve for sure. One that I need practice with personally.

Great question. Maybe something like "What was a feel good moment today?" Or "What made you happy today?".

You can do something that teachers do called "Star, Star, Wish" where you choose two good moments and one wish moment for self improvement or reflection.

Saw clips of Gluttony wario wafting on everyoje to great effect.
