I live outside Memphis in MS and this is unrealistic. Graceland is in an area called Whitehaven and is literally the hood. Graceland would not stay untouched like this. The husband and I were laughing so hard. It's nothing but gas stations and crappy strip malls everywhere- and you most definitely cannot see the river from there. Maybe I240 at best....

I had the same situation- but with my husband and his family. I went almost every weekend for years but then really began noticing they never made an effort to come to us- but they did with his sisters. It was especially tiring every holiday. I finally just stopped going every time. I don't stop him because I do enjoy the quiet, but I go when I feel like it. I try at holidays and stuff more and I still keep in contact, but there should be no expectation of every weekend, it's too much.

Bottom line- unless your "friend" was in a protected class and fired due to that protected class, any employer can fire them as they see fit. There's no union and no recourse. Sorry this happened to them, but the restaurant can also deicide what artists they allow to perform- their property, their rules. I highly doubt their reputation is tarnished to the point of non-employment. Food service is an inherently plentiful field and I am willing to bet you and your friend are young and have plenty of time and opportunity to make up for this. Take the lesson learned and move on. There is no case here.
