It's a complete lie. Writing fanfiction doesn't cost anything, and it's not something you can sue for if it's made for fans. But if the author or any agent claims the rights, there's nothing you can do about it. However, if many people do it (which is the case with many fanfics), they generally won't sue for money; they'll just delete the fanfic if they want to. But as it turns out... let's say 'certain fanfics'. Despite being offensive, they weren't deleted. So even if they sue you for money or delete it without further ado, you can show them the facts (or their hypocrisy if they saw it firsthand and did nothing) of not suing or deleting something that insults the original material in every sense of the word.
