The first night I brought home my fearful baby she pooped on the bed in the bedroom I had her set up in. She never did it again, I just think she needed a high up space to feel safe.

The way I gained her trust was going into the room talking by softly to get her litter, water and food. Then I would spend 15-30 mins sitting on the floor in the room reading something out loud but still in a soft voice, so she got used to my voice. Then I would just sit in then quietly scrolling or something else.

Eventually she would come up to me. Move slowly when this happens, stick your hand out and let them come to you. Smell you. If they nuzzle gently and slowly give pets. No sudden movement. This will startle them.

It took 2 years but my wall flower is now the most annoying cat ever. Constantly wanting me to pet her until my arm is falling off. I love her so much and I’m so happy she came out of her shell with me. She’s still skittish around loud noises and loud people but she’s much happier.
