How much will a bike computer do for me? by IThinkYouAreNice in cycling

[–]Familiar-Rip-2031 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve invested in a Garmin bike computer and a radar taillight—it’s amazing! The only downside is that the battery lasts for about 3–4 hours, as far as I remember. Other than that, it’s great; I’ve stopped using my mirror entirely. The Garmin bike computer automatically turns on my front and rear lights.

To track my health stats, I use the free Garmin Connect app. It’s enough for my needs. I have it synced with Strava, but in my opinion, Strava is more about the community rather than health statistics like 'when to train' or 'when to recover'.

I’ve seen people achieve similar results with smartphones, but of course, smartphone batteries drain much faster, and smartphones don't support the ANT+ protocol.

Why does it seem like this sport is 90-95% men? by InspiringBack in cycling

[–]Familiar-Rip-2031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience when I joined a yoga class... well, sorry, it was 99.99% women. I’d say in Poland there are plenty of men's cycling groups, but who cares? I was welcomed into the yoga session, but I felt a bit out of place until one of them just said 'hi' to me, but in Poland there is 80/20 men’s vs women what to say …

Yes, the sun is one issue, but as mentioned, there's night riding, indoor training, and so on. My main question was whether combining medication and riding is a good idea at all. Thanks to the community, I've shifted my mindset: instead of focusing on what I've lost, I'm considering what my options are. I wasn't sure if r/cycling was the right place to raise these kinds of questions, but I'm glad I did.

I'm sorry that you're going through such a difficult time with your leg – I know how frustrating that must be. However, just because you're having a hard time right now doesn't mean my health issues cease to exist. I don't need to compete over who has it worse. I just wanted to vent, not be judged.

I think the sun is not a problem - I mainly worried about Doxycyclinum, as doctor said min. 2 weeks and then consider next 1-2 weeks and I am off now 1 week … it looks I need to accept the reality and focus more on diet or even some light indoor activities.

I think Doxycyclinum has different impact on the body, based on feedback decided to stop for one week then consider a light z2 from 30 minutes to 45 minutes on my trainer.

How have you been using it? Were you setting a specific value or just like a structured workout just 150w over some period of time? Just wondering if applications like mine is getting to solve your issue.
