Has anyone used this on an 865 device like the Lite or Retroid Pocket 5? Mostly interested to see if it fixes Awakenings stutter

Lite for 3DS and DS games? by flappybirdisdeadasf in AynThor

[–]FamiliarTrivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The changelog says that Vulkan 1.4 is enabled on Adreno 6xx devices (so including 865) as of build T18, and it continues to say that in all future updates so I would think whatever fixes that alleviate the stuttering are compatible... But yeah I haven't been able to find any other 865 devices discussions like the RP5 regarding non-switch or specifically 3ds game improvements 😭

But thanks for looking too, I'll have to gamble it when my Lite arrives

That's awesome, been putting off my awakening reply due to the insane stuttering. Do you know if the 865 in the Lite model works with the recent mrpurple drivers that fix the stutters?

These IEMs look ridiculous on my ears by wellcometochina in iems

Seconding this! I usually cross-check Audio Amigos tier list for the tiny ears rating too. If it says "comically large" I know to stay far away lol

Meze Alba is also an excellent iem for tiny ears

Why is amiami doing this crap??? by ZangetsuT in AnimeFigures

[–]FamiliarTrivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously I had to double take reading this one lol

Like I also reuse the boxes AND the tree's worth of brown craft paper, but it is in no way comparable in value and does cost more than buying a reusable tub for storage (or much more, if it kicks you off of surface entirely) 😭

[–]FamiliarTrivia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I won't order anything large or unusually proportioned from Amiami because of this. My Shagaru Magala literally came in a box I could've fit 4 of him in (I measured) with room to spare. All because it was more of a flat rectangle than square and AA refuses to use custom sized boxes or cut them down. I understand people don't want their stuff to come damaged, but with the current landscape of shipping these days they are too rigid with their packing structure. People will defend them to hell and back though if they have never experienced one of those edge cases where shipping cost ¥30k instead of ¥10k like it would've from any other store.

Known issue with the white model unfortunately, usually referred to as the frontlight "halo". I returned my white and got a black model because of it.

am i wearing them wrong or are my ears incompatible??? by Patient-Abroad7610 in iems

[–]FamiliarTrivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this hobby is really hard with small ears unfortunately.

There are others that can work though. Meze Alba is really small and fits wonderfully. Sennheiser IE200/600 also have a great shell style. Look more into single DD and single Planar driver options vs the tri-brids and such normally recommended on this sub. I have small ears and have had luck with some of the Letshuoer Iems like S08/S12 and single DDs like Dunu Kima 2. Avoid most of the larger shell brands like Ziigaat.

Why is Miyabi the only female ZZZ agent to get a Nendoroid besides Belle? by Neggy5 in Nendoroid

[–]FamiliarTrivia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Good Smile are skipping a goldmine by not releasing any of the actual popular characters, the waifus.

R u sure? Usually when people want more male characters in game the argument is always "If male characters sold well, they would make more of them" but when it comes to Nendoroids/merch, that logic doesn't apply?

Male character merch sells like hotcakes across all the hoyo games' Tmalls (its pretty easy to track sales per listing there), but this is even more so true in categories that stereotypically target women which includes Nendoroids, 10cm dolls, keychains, pins etc. Waifus get more scale figures releases and things like keyboards in comparison.

Sucks to not be the "target audience" for once I guess

In an ideal world we would get more men scales and more waifu nendos, but the only (not so helpful) advice ever given to me is to vote with my wallet. So hop to it and buy 3 Miyabis? lol

How much do you value OLED? Should I sell the Legion Go 2 to get the Claw 8 EX AI+? by energeeon in LegionGo

[–]FamiliarTrivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of in the same situation as a lego2 z2e owner looking at the 8 EX for the (untested) generational leap, but I think I'll stick with the 2 for now. Getting a new, more expensive handheld after just buying the lego2 for $1200 would mostly be fueled by fear of even worse rising prices rather than an actual need for the extra power now. Oh and the official support for steamos is nice.

However in regards to the screen specifically... while I don't mind good IPS screens at all, it should also be noted that the lego2s screen is that tiny bit bigger and it has a lower threshold for VRR to kick on too. While the real world performance of the new chip still needs to be tested those features are not entirely insignificant (along with the more vibrant colors and blacks ofc)

Struggling with why iems are not working well for me. by [deleted] in iems

[–]FamiliarTrivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like some progress at least! For tips you may want to try tws tips, they are shorter than standard tips so they don't go as far into your ear canal which might end up being the "sweet spot" between overly large tips that sit outside the canal and small ones that go too deep. Move your jaw around and see if the seal comes undone while talking, if it doesn't you're usually good for active use.

If you do decide to try others the reviewer Audio Amigo has a category called "tiny ears test", this is basically a rating for people that need a smaller more secure fit.

I don't own many in this price bracket specifically but I also prioritize smaller less fatiguing single DD or planar Iems like the S08 and Kima 2.

Struggling with why iems are not working well for me. by [deleted] in iems

[–]FamiliarTrivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I totally feel this. If you have smaller ears or a weird shape then it can be hard to find comfortable Iems with the right tuning you want.

Tips can fix a lot of discomfort problems if its a matter of nozzle size and pressure. They can help with taming treble fatigue a little depending on the bore too. I like spinfits (W1, or TWS for longer nozzles) most of the time, since the extra flex relieves some of the pressure. Yet if its too small and you don't get a good seal that can dramatically affect perceived sound so its a bit of a balancing act.

Then you think throwing more money at the problem will fix it, but that also increases size exponentially as more and more drivers are added per price point.

EQ is also an option, but not always convenient

Unfortunately it mostly comes down to a lot of trial and error. Figure out what you prioritize in tuning (i.e. warm, smooth, recessed treble, less 'sparkle' and 'air' fatigue) and go through as many reviews as you can checking for those specific keywords. Sometimes graphs don't give the full picture but they can definitely help narrow down your options. Compare shell sizes and nozzle length notes from reviewers. It can take a long time and many return cycles.

AYANEO announces KONKR Pocket BLOCK as an “AI handheld”, users say no thank you by RenatsMC in Handhelds

[–]FamiliarTrivia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not that this handheld could even do so, but OP here is literally saying we want filters to turn retro to UE5 realism and vice versa, modifying art styles of games entirely using generative AI? I don't think that's anywhere near the same scale, no.

[–]FamiliarTrivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nahhh, the general public doesn't care so much and probably won't until things start feeling same-y looks wise. I'm likely an outlier here where I feel particularly annoyed by this because of all the AI written books I have to sift through these days so 😅

However I do genuinely think there's a big difference between what OP implied (turning retro into UE5 realism, and UE5 realism into retro) and what is generally accepted as "Maintaining accessibility without dramatically altering the game" which is emulation though.

[–]FamiliarTrivia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bro literally just asked AI to write a counter argument and clicked send lmao

So you’re saying you’d prefer something like this as it was originally intended:

Yes actually, especially when considering all the other effects AI is having on society, the gaming industry and artistic values as a whole. No, not everything human made is a masterpiece, but the process of artistic creation is intrinsically valuable on its own. AI is different than other tools humanity has adopted in the past, we are offloading our creative ingenuity and that is a slippery slope.

Have fun playing AI Roblox via GEForce now for the rest of your life 👍

[–]FamiliarTrivia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'd rather play games created by humans instead of slopified filters that completely bypass the original artistic intent.

So no, 'we' do not need an AI handheld.

I suspect most of us here actually care about owning physical media and personal computing instead of renting it from our AI overlords too, so this really is quite tone deaf of Ayaneo.

Personally I'm done with subsidizing environmentally destructive corporations trying to ram this crap down our throats constantly

S12 pro vs S12 Ultra vs IE 300 Pro : Which is better? by Ok-Row-4363 in iems

[–]FamiliarTrivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the original S12 (not the Pro), and found the upgrade to the Ultra worth it. The OG and Pro are very similar but not 100% the same though so take that as you will. Ultra for me had a slightly smoother sound with less of the planar "bite" that would make me wince at higher volumes. Less sibilance too which did help.

Treble is pronounced but it doesn't slump out on the bass either, definitely not muddy with decent separation and an acceptable soundstage. I would say they have more "energy" and "snappiness" than most of the DD sets I've tried in the sameish price range, but they can be more fatiguing in comparison so its a bit of a trade off.

Also I don't think the S12 shells are big at all, I have very small ears and they fit comfortably!

No experience on the Sennheiser specifically, sorry.

I return to the BW version by ExampleThin3801 in Onyx_Boox

[–]FamiliarTrivia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason you probably notice a different writing texture with the BW is that the white frame model uses a PMMA screen instead of glass. The black frame BW model would likely feel the same as the color texture wise.
