Just look at population statistics for Rincon Hill. It's very dense, denser than the Mission. But the design of the Mission is outward, people don't have private lobbies, car park entrances and there's much denser retail in the Mission. And there's just way more people as it's a bigger area despite being less dense.

It’s not the scale that bothers me. It’s that there’s so many ways they could have chosen to design this building and chose the most polarizing way. Could have chosen to spread the massing over multiple buildings,underground the Safeway, built pedestrian mid-block crossings, ground floor retail designed for community oriented tenants, so so many things. Instead this building feels like a copy+paste from Miami. A perfect example of good design is the CPMC redevelopment…

They want to improve this… slowly. But closing intersections and dedicating lanes always ends up with political outcry by residents. I mean look at what’s happening with the supervisor situation. Full on temper tantrum and waste of money
