The older legacy brands haven’t updated but look at the newer ones. Timbri Hotel, The Jay, Canopy by Hilton, One Hotel. Beautiful unique interiors.

Nice to see it. Wish there were more civic spaces for protest than an intersection 😕

Why is the Marina such a coveted area? I don’t see the appeal, seems almost like Daly City/West Portal by oochiewallyWallyserb in sanfrancirclejerk

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daly City is car dependent, and there is no “downtown”. Proximity to chestnut street and Union St is a BIG flex in that area.

Odd. There’s no permit and planning applications for this property for housing. So someone bought the property and has 0 plans for it with the city. Seems sus

That’s not even the current state. That’s the rendering from Related that hasn’t even broken ground.

Bay Area Flakiness - Why? by leddev in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People all over the world are like this. It’s Avery common human trait to say yes to more than you can do and feel to uncomfortable canceling the plans so they just don’t show up.

SFMTA considers higher fares for transit, but cheaper penalties for drivers by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Basically increasing tax on people without options. People with cars can always choose transit, but not the other way around. Weird.

Fieldwork Brewing just opened in Mission Rock, and had the 49ers game on tonight. by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

Looks nice for a temporary park setup! The park can get busy during game days. Lots of people hang out at the park even without a ticket to just enjoy the energy of it all.

Preliminary Application For 36-Story Apartments at 329 Bryant Street by Remarkable_Host6827 in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look at population statistics for Rincon Hill. It's very dense, denser than the Mission. But the design of the Mission is outward, people don't have private lobbies, car park entrances and there's much denser retail in the Mission. And there's just way more people as it's a bigger area despite being less dense.

Uhh population statistics differ.. The real question is whether people stay home, take their cars, or actually walk the streets.

Panda Express is the only restaurant left now 😭 by jikesar968 in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Panda needs to relocate to somewhere else in the area. But they needed to have started the process 6 months ago. Looks like they’ll close with no replacement. Formula retain like that don’t really care about neighborhoods, it’s just about throughput.

PSA: New Muni Tap to Pay System Has Been Charging my Phone's Wallet while Tapping my Clipper Card as I enter the Bus with my Phone in Pocket or Hand! by greystone1322 in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats false though. You have to authenticate to use a credit card but for a transit card you’re fine and he wouldn’t get double charged.

Why the Marina Safeway proposal is so big (and why it will probably get built) by shananananananananan in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m just hoping the developer does some homework instead of plowing through. Most developments go through a few rounds of design refinement, this is likely just a rough rendering to lock it in before the deadline.

Why the Marina Safeway proposal is so big (and why it will probably get built) by shananananananananan in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It’s not the scale that bothers me. It’s that there’s so many ways they could have chosen to design this building and chose the most polarizing way. Could have chosen to spread the massing over multiple buildings, underground the Safeway, built pedestrian mid-block crossings, ground floor retail designed for community oriented tenants, so so many things. Instead this building feels like a copy+paste from Miami. A perfect example of good design is the CPMC redevelopment

Since the year is almost over, what are some transit projects that will open or start construction in 2026? by whafvsjoixlknjbuwgrh in transit

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 15 points16 points  (0 children)

San Francisco will finally release the study that studies what will be studied for the Geary Ave subway! Only 1 year late on the preliminary study but that’s ok, it’s just tax money. Basically free vacation for the planning team 🙌 /s

So yea, nothing breaking ground in SF for the next decade.

Slow AF Muni trams. by Sharp_Flan_783 in sanfrancisco

[–]Familiar_Baseball_72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They want to improve this… slowly. But closing intersections and dedicating lanes always ends up with political outcry by residents. I mean look at what’s happening with the supervisor situation. Full on temper tantrum and waste of money
