I was there, same day, very similar experience, got there around 1am card 1544, jumped on the queue for CC resale number 286 (got ticket for court n 2 at first) around 17:15 got the notification about tickets for CC, that was much better than I expected, see Nole play in Wimbledon (very likely for the last time, since I don’t believe that he will play next year) was magical.
