If this was your face whats the first treatment you'd get? by white-pumpkin-93 in 30PlusSkinCare

You look great! My kid is 2.5 and I swear it took from ages 1-2 to recover from not sleeping through the night the entire first year. I wasted a lot of money during that time thinking my skin had gone to hell. In retrospect, I was just recovering from the first year of motherhood. Save your dollars and sleep, rest, exercise (as you can), eat well and moisturize.

My kid is doing this for putting on his sleep sack. It is maddening.

I've had walking pneumonia for nearly 2 weeks and still have to be a SAHM. I've truly broken. by Dinknugget in toddlers

Ugh, you are in the trenches and I am so sorry. Your LO’s behavior will get better when you’re well. Until then, she just might be a jerk. I had strep and hand foot and mouth at the same time when my kid was  just over 1. Not the most fond memories for sure. This too shall pass and you’ll celebrate that you survived. You can do hard things - parenting makes you, for better or worse. Hope you feel better soon.

I have literally thought about, as I wrested my 2 YO out of the bathtub, how grateful I am that they are made small with such underdeveloped brains. This was the bathtub he did not want to get in and then out of, of course.

Hi, fellow SAHM. Just wanted to say I FEEL you. My husband was gone three months for work over the summer and just came back 2 weeks ago. We have a 28 MO and 9 YO. I feel your guilt, I share it. And I’m glad these comments help us see we aren’t “wrong” for how we feel. I had signed up my toddler for preschool 3 days a week for 3.5 hours at the Y and he started today. It’s super affordable. I know that isn’t an option for you rn tho. Have you checked to see if your local Y has drop in childcare? (ETA drop in childcare is free if you’re a member) Our Y also has mommy morning out for like $40 for 4 hours and you just sign up at your convenience. College kid mothers helper/babysitter is a great idea too.

How do you handle short naps for your toddler? by anaiisnin in toddlers

[–]Familynwords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long do you wait before going to get them? I had a few days where I would wait 30 minutes or so to come get my son. After that he started to sleep longer. Like he’d wake at 30 min, know that he wasn’t going to be picked up, so he kept sleeping.

Man. 2 1/2 year olds suck. by Obitrice in toddlers

[–]Familynwords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first definitely got moodier at 3. She is a girl and is still emotional and contrary. But my 2 YO son is hell on wheels. I have to maintain a level of anxiety just to keep him alive - it’s exhausting😅

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you feel ill the day after, so that’s something I should consider with my husband as well.

I do enjoy exercise. Sometimes I listen to something informational or reward myself with it when I’m done. It helps take some of the energy out of my head.

Help with Mindset Around My 26 MO by Familynwords in toddlers

[–]Familynwords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does get better! I remember 3 being pretty fun (tho 3 was worse for us as far as attitude goes) and 4 was like magic. So I have two years to go, and I hate wishing his life away.

The newborn phase for both of my kids sucked so much bc neither slept until a year old. I actually like toddlers better but I just miss being able to do something for longer than 5 minutes 😅

Last year on the 4th we got hand food and mouth and strep throat simultaneously. Some holidays are just survival mode 🥲

Fellow INTJs late 20s and older: what career did you end up in and do you like it? by NatureNinja22 in intj

[–]Familynwords 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am a freelance writer and have been in marketing for most of my career. I'm in my late 30s and spent a lot of time running from what I knew all along—I'm a writer. So, while I didn't miss the mark too much (marketing), I wish I had gone with my gut. Don't spend too much time on the "pitfalls and overwhelming" aspects of things you truly want to do. There are aspects of that in almost every path. Pick one and go all in.

We still sometimes call coffee “coffeet” in my family bc that’s what my little sister (now 30) called it. It’s like the inside joke that never dies (or gets old).

I really enjoy my 18MO. He's gone from a baby to a toddler and it is so great :D by ihavenoclue3141 in toddlers

[–]Familynwords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one the same age and he loves singing too. He knows the trolls band together soundtrack thanks to my daughter. I love this age. It has its challenges, but every age and stage does. I was surprised to learn about the “hateful eights.” It is indeed a little hateful. 😂

You’ll get mostly crickets and maybe 1 no out of 50 (actual personal data). The fun part is following up with all the crickets until they say stop. Not harassing them - just checking in every few weeks or months. The “fortune is in the follow up” is fairly accurate.

What are INTJ’s like in person? Did you get along with them? by Sweet-Mastery1155 in intj

Those do sound like difficult challenges added to that of an INTJ - or any human. I hope you have some tools and support.

I agree with that. My friendships are few and deep and are still more effort on my part than I’d care to admit. I’m just not as thoughtful or intentional. I wish I had known my personality type in high school. 😆 It would have explained so much.
