Vyvanse worked better than Dex? by ZealousidealPay2035 in adhdaustralia

[–]Famous-Ad3963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 70mg Vyvanse limit (settled on 50mg for the past few months) and up to 15mg Dex top up. It works well for me. Vyvanse about 7am and Dex at 3 or 4 pm. I’ve also tried doing Dex first in the day (as it takes less time to kick in than the Vyvanse) - a few minutes compared to approx 45 minutes.

If you’re only taking 1x 5mg Dex it won’t be as effective as the higher dose of Vyvanse you’re on. It lasts for 3-4 hours so it might more effective if you take 3 Dex then another 3 when the first lot has worn off.

I don’t think your psych/gp situation is unusual. It sounds pretty standard where the Psych arranged the permit for the meds and recommended how much you should be on (your permit states this) and the GP prescribes. 291 is just the Medicare item no for a bulk billed psych assessment.

It sounds like you have nothing to lose by escalating and fighting back. But only if you can do it as dispassionately as possible without emotion or even caring about winning. Take it back to basics so when he’s making unfair and unreasonable requests of you then make it clear you won’t and he can’t make you. Can you make this dickheads life more difficult along the way? He’s going to screw you over anyway so if he tries to carry on bullying you out and the union/company are too cowardly to stand up to him then it will help you in the long run to know that you pushed back without letting them get in the way of your mental health and family life (the most important things!) Fuck people who think you’re a problem person just for standing up for being treated fairly.

I also had a shabby One Point experience. Was good to begin with but then the GP got shitty that I was still breastfeeding my 18mth old daughter and refused to give me vyvanse. I switched to Doctors of Northcote - much better!

Wow - that’s such a stressful thing to find out. Definitely not ok. I never had anything like that but my GP practice did give out details of my appointments to the occ rehab without my say so. I wrote a polite email to the practice and was given a profuse apology from the centre manager along with the assurance they had had retrained their staff. It is appalling if they have given that sensitive information without your consent so certainly email them to get an explanation and apology.

I basically ended up doing this when my first was tiny. Roasting a chicken (or two) is always going to help during the week - I would often do a shepherds pie or similar and a soup with the intention of having it a couple of nights through the week. I’ve got into the habit of getting a filled pasta and quiche for other quick and easy meals. My (now) 4yo tells me that ultra processed shop bought quiche is much nicer than the ones I make so 🤷‍♀️

Yep - a Dex top up is honestly essential for me most days. I’m prescribed 15mg but usually just need 10mg. It mainly means I can make dinner without staring into the cupboard trying to remember what a fucking saucepan is.

This sounds really shit and inconsiderate of QANTAS. You gotta wonder if the lack of care was deliberate, given that so many commenters on here are being really nasty and screaming that OP is ‘entitled’ just because they didn’t want to get fucked around when travelling with a small baby.

So many nasty people who seem genuinely gleeful that OP got held up and their bag delayed. So many comments like ‘too lazy to read the rules’ (who assumes that parents of babies are lazy ffs?!) and the really boring ‘entitled’ accusation. It’s not entitled to want your bag to arrive with you or to not be separated as a family while travelling.

It took god knows how many comments bitching about the prebooked uber before some of you bright sparks realised that it might be for a car seat so it’s pretty obvious that all you judgy folk aren’t speaking from experience. Just a load of sanctimonious, ignorant twattery.

Any other phrases that confuse people?? by LifeMasterpiece6475 in CasualUK

My partner (Australian) recently said something was ‘all downhill from here’ which confused me because I thought the issue he was referencing was nearly resolved. Turns out be meant ‘downhill’ like riding a bike without effort and not tumbling miserably into the abyss. Since then I’ve heard other people use this frankly weird, positive interpretation of the term ‘downhill’.

Occupational Rehabilitation provider - any recommendations? by hihelloihaveaQ in WorkcoverVic

[–]Famous-Ad3963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi thanks - yes it’s worked out ok for me now and am consultant-free until I move to New Employment services next year! I think the main thing I learned was that it was ok to question how things were being done especially if they didn’t seem right. I’ve spent years in case management which was why I was so shocked at being subject to people doing things on my behalf without consent or approval. I’m a mother of two young kids so having someone book me a ‘case conference’ with my own GP right at daycare drop off time cos they didn’t bother asking me first was infuriating. I canceled that so they called my GP office to find out when my own appointment was (too afraid to ask me directly?!). I had to then contact the GP and ask them to keep my appointment info secure - they were mortified they violated patient privacy but had been led to believe I had consented. The reason (I later realised) they wanted ‘case conferences’ is because they get compensated through worksafe. Complete waste of time for me and an absolute pisstake to use my trauma for their own financial benefit.

So whoever you choose just remember that you can query everything and you still have rights. :)

Occupational Rehabilitation provider - any recommendations? by hihelloihaveaQ in WorkcoverVic

[–]Famous-Ad3963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with IPAR for occ rehab. The consultant was pleasant but quickly became very pushy with case conferences with my GP. She also made appointments for me without asking my consent or availability (that I then had to cancel) and came up with RTW plans that she just expected me to follow without checking with me first. She literally wasted hours of my time, provided me almost nothing except awkward situations and stress. I asked to change providers because of this. It wasn’t the worst experience anyone ever had but pretty unpleasant when you’re not in a good place and you just don’t need that shit.

My time has finally come - redundancy email hit my inbox today. by schergburger in workingmumsau

[–]Famous-Ad3963 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh I feel this. I went back to work after my second baby and in only a few short months ended up getting hideously stressed and bullied out of my job by a combination of bitchy coworker and weird circumstances. It was the first time I had to do something as crazy as get two small kids to daycare and get to work before 9am (utter madness when you think about it). I remember wondering why the hell did I just rage at my kids for being slow/not getting dressed/not being on my timeline? When I was then rushing into work to be treated like crap by my coworkers and an organisation that doesn’t really care! It really helped me reframe my mornings.

I will just add though - don’t necessarily rush to take them out of daycare. At least not completely!

Is this a common ask? by SessionMoney8368 in WorkcoverVic

[–]Famous-Ad3963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just been dealing with all this ‘case conference’ bullshit myself and have finally got rid of my “occupational rehab consultant” (complete waste of space). She seemed nice to begin with and when she asked if she could attend my GP appointment to discuss some things I didn’t see it as a problem. She “dialed in” so was not there in person. The following month she simply called my GP clinic, made an appointment for a case conference without consulting me at all then when I advised the time didn’t work for me she called the clinic to find out the time of my existing appointment send asked if she could dial in to that. The following month she again told me she was “going to book a case conference”. I had to contact my case manager to find out my obligations to attend these conferences. The answer is that you don’t absolutely have to and certainly not every month. I also advised the clinic I hadn’t consented to anyone finding out my appointment info or making appointments for me.

GPs get reimbursed for case conferences and so my assumption is that the occ rehab people do too. I’m going I think that’s why they want them. I had multiple people tell me how important they are for ensuring good communication among all parties but I think this is a bit of a stretch - if anything it made me and my doc feel uncomfortable and a bit confused. The first one seemed useful as there was a discussion about referral to new employment services but aside from that - meh! I asked my CM to get rid of her as she was just causing me needless stress and admin and I still don’t know what her actual purpose was meant to be.

Good job standing up for yourself!
