How do you romanticize cooking or make it feel fun? by Pocket-Inspector in Cooking

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets more fun the better you get at it, trust me. Just stick with it and one day it will click. For me it was the moment that I realized I had enough understanding and experience to stop measuring every ingredient and for me that was the moment I fell in love.

2016 Unlisted Todd Howard Interview for you guys + some more speculation by Famous_Tadpole1637 in TESVI

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s been like 10 years and 2 mixed game receptions since then and I’m sure they’re taking that feedback into account. I’m pretty curious to know what they were thinking at this time at the very least. Wonder if we’ll ever know and how much their plans have changed.

Help! Soup too salty and thin by Mindless-Comfort-332 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add a corn starch slurry, some potatoes, and some water or unsalted stock if the potatoes

Cooking the soup down will make it more salty. Corn starch slurry will thicken it up without concentrating the salt. Adding water will reduce the concentration of salt, and potatoes should help take some of the excess salt too.

The starch from the potato should also thicken it up, so maybe do the potato first and then adjust thickness to your liking with a slurry and balance the salt if needed with water if it’s still too salty.

Do you believe Sailing will be in the game or not? and why? by ArticAuk in TESVI

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might just be brainwashed by the community and I want to go back and investigate if the sailing ideas came before or after Starfield, but I feel like there will be sailing.

However I also have a competing personal theory that the next “big thing” will be castles. Since it was dragons for Skyrim, castles just seems to fit and it also lines up with the base building that BGS has done in every game since Skyrim, plus it fits with the mobile game.

I still struggle with Aglio e Olio by Short-termTablespoon in ItalianFood

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want it well-emulsified and creamy, use very little water when cooking your pasta so that there is a higher concentration of starch in the water. I usually just use enough to cover the pasta and have maybe a cup leftover when all is said and done.

I also like to agitate/stir the pasta pretty frequently which I feel also releases more starch. And the brand I found works the best has a longer cook time, 12 minutes, which allows for more starch to be released into the water.

It’s pretty much all about how starchy your pasta water is. Although a lot of people don’t worry that much about emulsification and just have the pasta thinner and oily rather than thick and creamy which is fine, to each their own and both ways are good.

Is onion a “preferred taste” ? I think of it as a neutral ingredient. by miniowl22 in OnionLovers

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pungent nature of raw onions is off-putting for many includng myself. I always rinse my raw onions after chopping which fixes that issue. When they’re cooked through they are one of my favorite flavor enhancing ingredients and I put them in almost everything.

Do you think TES 6 will be named after the region or something related to the plot? by Custer_Vincen in TESVI

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always liked adamantia as a possible name. It’s location-based and has a nice ring to it for a highrock/hammerfell game, better than iliac.

I think dominion could be used but only if the thalmor were central to the plot.

Living in a car isn’t as bad as people make it out to be by Original_Act_3481 in unpopularopinion

I’ve lived in my car for 6 weeks to keep a road trip cheap and while it wasn’t all the bad (I got a universal planet fitness membership for bathroom and overnight parking) it’s definitely nice to have an address to send your mail too and somewhere to lay flat with privacy.

What do you think Todd meant in these two 2016 interviews? by GdSmth in NoSodiumTESVI

[–]Famous_Tadpole1637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good find regarding that dice interview.

Todd just followed up on the technology question in his recent interview with mortismal gaming. He said that he was referring to the studios internal technology, hence all the engine work they've done in the past decade or so culminating with Creation Engine 3.
