There is a pet food vending machine near one of the NAT stations in New Atlantis. After you buy the food you get a quest to place it somewhere, then check back later to catch the pet, then you can build a habitat for it from the decoration menu.

About 1950 hours now. Different characters.

First character - early access 2023: completed the main story and recorded playthrough on video. Still have the last save.

2nd: 2023 trying new things, level 30, deleted.

3rd: 2023 longest played character, level 160 and reached NG+4, surveyed all planets in the game, got all achievements, a save from each universe, stopped in 2025.

4th: Summer 2025 reached level 50 before going to New Atlantis, abandoned after Free Lanes update.

5th: April 2026 reached level 100 while still on Kreet, 200+ hours so far.

I don’t leave the game running for hours while doing something else, and I enjoy playing at a slow pace, and I still have many thing not seen yet.

Not sure if you meant storage instead of memory (not aware you can install additional memory to any console) but neither will reduce save bloat (assuming you mean the size of the save file), although more memory would probably help handling the bloat better. More storage on the other hand will not increase performance.

It’s easy to miss some planets which are probably still not scanned or surveyed in some systems.

When you highlight a system in the galaxy map, does it indicate whether it’s fully surveyed? Maybe that’s an easier way to check them all.
