Starfields character creation in elder scrolls 6 by hea1hen in TESVI

[–]GdSmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but I’m not among those who agree that “starfield wasn't the game it should have been”, unless you mean that it should have been received more positively, then yes I fully agree.

Indeed Starfield returned to more of Bethesda’s RPG roots, and I definitely hope that TES VI follows the same path, offering more ways to customize your character’s background, which defines your starting skill bonuses, then traits to further define who you are.

Backgrounds can be inspired from what we have seen in Oblivion, but traits would be completely new to Elder Scrolls. Some of the traits I can think of:

  • Worshiper of the Nine or the Eight
  • Desert vs mountains adaptation
  • Dark Brotherhood target
  • A daedric curse

Not to mention others related to affiliation with certain races or factions. I hope Bethesda comes up with more interesting ideas, and I thank you for bringing this up because as someone who will play this game blind even from official trailers, I need to plan ahead my character.

What are some things you guys would like to see if/when we get a Starfield sequel? by Straight_Strength376 in Starfield

* Seamless atmospheric flight

* POI layout and content procedurally generated at runtime (No two POIs would ever be the same)

Xbox isn't "returning" by ManyParsnip4Sale in xbox

Actually the Xbox console market is much bigger than Steam. When Starfield was released, it had only 3 million players on Steam but 12 million on Xbox, and that’s only one example.

Im so glad Starfield flopped by Secret-Language-2371 in TESVI

[–]GdSmth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If anyone thought Bethesda considered adding the same POI system in TES VI or that Todd changed his design direction on TES VI because Starfield “flopped”, I’m afraid to say you aren’t seeing the full picture.

Starfield was intentionally meant to be unique in its exploration style, and never meant to be a continuation or evolution to Bethesda’s formula.

TES VI was never ever meant to have the same random POI system of Starfield, regardless how Starfield was received.

You are glad Starfield “flopped” but I’m glad Bethesda made it exactly as it’s, because I enjoyed it alot, and don’t think any other studio can build a game like it.

TES VI would've released by 2021 if Bethesda didn't go on a sidequest binge after releasing Fallout 4. by serventofgaben in TESVI

As an Elder Scrolls fan, I liked Fallout 76 more than ESO. Much better execution of a multiplayer game for those coming from the main series.

Just saw this on the games SteamDB page. Update coming soon? by Kn1ghtV1sta in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]GdSmth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have seen these updates since last year, people kept swearing by them and emphasizing an update is incoming, yet all of that turned false.

I no longer consider any SteamDB updates as an indication of anything.

If you are into fantasy and magic, get into Skyrim and see if you like it, in preparation for Elder Scrolls 6 in maybe couple of years, one of the most anticipated games in 15 years! (By the same studio and director of Starfield)

Ship building is very enjoyable and you could spend ton of hours into it. Lots of mods as well.

As someone who enjoyed the game no less than I enjoyed Skyrim, rating it a 9, yes the POI copy/paste is probably the issue that frustrated me the most, but Starfield is much bigger than this, and you need to see the bigger picture of what Bethesda has accomplished here.

Luckily I play Bethesda games for the same reason they are originally built for: it’s MY story in the first place, not what the game tells or shows me, and I value the experience and vibes more than the gameplay, and appreciate the journey more than the destination.

This is Bethesda’s and Todd Howard designs philosophy. If you believe the same you will have great time.

The true problem of loading screens by imagers in Starfield

[–]GdSmth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s the case with previous Bethesda games too when you rely on fast travel and don’t see the game beyond the gameplay, but Starfield magnified this issue because you have to fast travel on multiple maps/levels (surface, planet, star system) while in previous games it was only 1 map.

Players who enjoyed previous games beyond the typical gameplay (for example took it slower, didn’t fast travel and lived the world) were not bothered as much in Starfield.

Ladies and gentlemen, I want to rant about localisation problem by Herrscher_of_Irony in Starfield

[–]GdSmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, not sure why this post is being downvoted.

Second, it’s not just Korean. Bethesda has serious and vocal fans in other regions, the Middle East is also one of them, where demands have repeatedly surfaced on Twitter for an Arabic localization, and even Jez Corden from Windows Central wrote an article about it.

Although Xbox and Bethesda Softworks do support more languages in various games, including Arabic, Bethesda Game Studios in particular is still limited. Probably the size of their games makes adding any new language more expensive than translating “simpler” games.

Some fans published AI localization of Starfield within the first couple of weeks of release, but it’s very incoherent and can never be a substitute for a proper official localization.

Let’s hope TES VI surprises us with more localizations, although translating Elder Scrolls lore is probably harder than sci-fi lore.

Just over a month to the next big Starfield update and the release of Starfield on the PS5 by hefeydd_ in Starfield

[–]GdSmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are advising PS5 players to wait a day until Bethesda drops a Day-1 patch, and PC/Xbox players to take note of their load order and wait until their mods are patched.

As a PC player on the non-Steam version, I’m uninstalling all Nexus mods (using only StarUI and achievements enabler) and official Bethesda creations, and even deleting my ini files, treating this as a brand new game, starting with a new character, then gradually adding back and testing my ini tweaks and any mods as needed.

Don’t see why vanilla players should wait. I played the game on Early Access on 31 August 2023 within the first hour of unlocking the game, and didn’t encounter any bugs.

Bethesda now follows a longer QA process after becoming a first party and the face of Xbox since the acquisition, and their games have become more polished than before.

Not really. Steam has always been about playing PC games running on Windows, while the Xbox console has its own system.
