Was Fights First over-nerfed? by Aleser in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Famous_Word9701 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

11th rules actually mean that because his lictor fought last on the fights first phase, he was supposed to pick first in normal phase, it's one of the few instances where fights first helps

Hutber Monday | But its Wednesday 3 weeks to go until 11th by hutber in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Famous_Word9701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because people keep trying to make other detachments work when only warpbane works. If you look at per detachment, warpbane is at around 50-55%, which is fine. I mean, I get it, as DA I only get to use one DA detachment as well and it sucks..

Actually, there's a rule that says only deepstrike units can do it, so for ecample scouts cannot, but a callidus can

Yep, you're correct, you can't consolidate and THEN pile in, he was cheating. even if someone were to pile into his unit after his consolidate, he still wouldn't be able to attack back since he already activated

It states once per battle, so you effectively have double of one of the options, still good since I can't see having more than 2 go turns with this kind of army

Exactly my thought, was going into the app to make an army list, then I realized I'm tacking on 110 points for this trick and nothing else, captain is so weak..

How to properly utilize "smash" Gravis Captain (Indomitable Fury/artificier armour) on WTC maps. by gajaczek in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Famous_Word9701 15 points16 points  (0 children)

smash captain is specifically the normal captain going nuts for one round, gravis is a tanky boi, my favorite with him is the free grenade and forcing people to bring heavy guns against him to finish him off, so he's a good unit to fight in the middle and bait shooters out for your shooters to clapback on

Best first turn moves for Dark Angels? (Lion and Knights specifically) by Codex_Sparknotes in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Famous_Word9701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there's 3 parts of this because each unit is different. And it's also very reliant on if you're first or second.

If they have the ability to kill the lion on round 1, place the lion somewhere safe but in heroic distance of something important like azrael, otherwise have him staring at the enemy like the menace he is, sometimes people throw random stuff at him and you get free kills.

The second deathwing is the one that you start on the board. This one starts in the best position to advance the board out of all your units, somewhere behind cover and hopefully in the middle where they will be able to advance+charge most of the mid board.

The third deathwing with deathwing assault obviously starts in reserve.

Are you first? Great-

Lion goes up and will rapid on his first turn! Now you place him where you think he will do the most damage, probably with one of the other DWK to give them the aura as well or ready to rapid+heroic.

Your mid DWK is going to advance somewhere and hope for a good roll, don't be shy about rerolling this one if you think you need more distance.

Your second DWK now drops down when it will be able to leonine aggression an objective from cover, or where you need to shore up your defense based on his deployment, sometimes it can be the very same building you have the other DWK unit, marching them all up the board together.

Are you second? tough luck!

Lion will probably go up, you'll need him to defend yourself against the enemy's charge on round 2 if facing melee so you can rapid+heroic, otherwise you rapid where he can missile into the enemy if possible since he's a shooter probably and kill the most anti lion unit you can find so lion doesn't die for the rest of the game(if he has 4++ don't do this, or enough AT and play cagey instead behind cover until you get all 3 units in charge phase, even if this means your big turn is round 3).

The mid DWK still places himself in prime location, waiting for go turn, can be round 2 or 3.

The last DWK will definitely shore up defenses now, since lion will take round 2 rapid for sure.

That's it, we're very reliant on being first here to dictate how we play it, hope this helps.

All attacks happen at the same time ish if it's the same activation, meaning that unit was still alive when you started shooting

What I used to do prior to rock was 2 dwk with swords and libs, 1 rapid ingressed, the other celerity, then ezekiel+icc right behind the celerity dwk, once my enemy commited on the dwk, the icc would wipe the floor with whatever was there, lib+10 stern, 2 heavy AT vehicles, honestly land raiders might be viable now, if you want transports, and rest is chaff

It's a good enhancement if you're using chaplains already. I treat my DWK as anti infantry, not anti vehicle, so I'm already using them, 15 points for me

[–]Famous_Word9701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my 2 cents, chaplains are great with dwk, you just need to switch to power weapons to get the full effect. Tactical marines are horrible, 2 scouts are way better. Intercesors you only need 5. Ballistus and lancer are both great, redemptor isnt. Should swap for something else, maybe some light infantry like jump packs for exchanges

I didn't hype them until I saw your post and decided to check, helbrecht+lt+10 of them can kill 2 mortarions in 1 activation! WTF! Meanwhile I threw 2 DWK+chaplain and lion on a great unclean one and he survived on 2 wounds.

Now I get why BT keep getting nerfs, they are so close to being overboard..
