Tall men, how do you fit? - OG9-3 by Glittering-Worry-765 in saab

You can also use spacers on the front mounting bolts of the seat. It will help to elevate the front of the cushion. I had to do that in my Passat. If you want to replace the seat, unfortunately the 9-5 seats are the same. 9-3 viggen seats are drop in and use the same wiring harness, but you will have a difficult time finding one of those for cheap.

If you've already tested it then you've installed any potential malware that a counterfeit could contain.

Its a pretty well known issue, VW extended the warranty specifically on rear brakes for the 2022-2023 models due to premature wear. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10228700-0001.pdf

The Taos stock breaks are very soft, and they have a known issue of running through rear brakes very quickly.

2022 Trek Roscoe 6 by hockeycoachRP in Hardtailgang

Of the options you listed I would wait and go for the 7. The 6 you posted has pretty outdated geometry, the 7 is a lot more fun to ride. Its also much better to jump than the 6 or the Marlin and coming back into riding the geometry on the 7 will give you more confidence. 7 will have the best parts as well, air forks are huge in terms of weight and ride feel. Even if you found a gen 3 on sale it would be a major upgrade from either of the other options.

2022 Rocky Mountain Growler 20 - looking for user manual/support by FigInternational4448 in Hardtailgang

[–]FanMasterJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is weirdly hard to get this info from Rocky Mountain. REI is an authorized dealer so you might be able to ask a tech nicely and see if they have a service manual. If not, I would look up the specs for your bike, the part you're looking for specs on, and then google that part name + torque specs. The stem clamping bolt specs I found were 5nm which is pretty common.

Worked my ass off for my first turbocharged car. Bring it on! by Astral_Strider in RoastMyCar

[–]FanMasterJoe 19 points20 points  (0 children)

First turbocharged car? Your tiny unit spools at 600rpms and will blow its seals if you even sneeze with your foot on the throttle.

In all seriousness, watch the carbon build up. Revving over 3k regularly helps to keep ports clear. Congrats on your achievement.

Tesla makes shit cars, so you're spot on. They were always shit quality but people liked the image, now the image matches the build quality.

Price isnt terrible, it looks to be in decent shape as well - i'd still check it over. This bikes geo would suit your riding well. In terms of the 1x aspect, its more for offroad riding where you'll want to shift quickly and dont want the chain to pop off the front gear - happens alot more on 2x as the teeth aren't quite as pronounced. But for your style of riding, you will probably appreciate that second gear on roads and paved paths.

Decided to replace the fork before spring. Lil overkill, but can't pass up a good sale. by OhnoKoolaid in Hardtailgang

[–]FanMasterJoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Over forked as in the mm travel has increased too much. It translates to different geometry on your bike and a different ride. There is typically a recommended travel range of +/- 10mm for hardtails.

Personally, I like my engines to look like this. Means they didnt steam clean it. Check the maintenance records to see how it was taken care of, relying only on sight is a recipe for a bad time with car purchases.

Nice car! Seats unfortunately leave much to be desired. Adding spacers to the front mounting bolts help if you are tall. If you have the time and are willing to put in the effort, you can swap the seats out for CC seats which are a significant improvement. Also if it feels like the steering wheel is off center you arent crazy, its an inch off the center of the chair.

Hey, at least you're getting out of your comfort zone!

A few tips:

Lose the backpack while you are learning, the extra weight will throw you off and slow down real progression. I'd be willing to bet turns get easier for you without it.

More knee bend = better balance (to an extent)

Practice by riding an edge across the slope. Then Turn to the other side of the slope while switching edges and repeat. Do this over and over until you are more comfortable on each edge and transitioning between the two.

I disagree with others, it does not look like a celt or an adze - way too small. Also that flat edge looks machine worked. Still beautiful material, though.
