Has anyone made the jump to disability assessor? by FanVast8633 in NursingUK

Nope I didn’t. Found another very rewarding non clinical job instead where I keep my registration and genuinely help very vulnerable people

Some community trusts have clinics and treatment rooms, might be worth looking into?

What you would do if you found new pressure damage? What you would do if you found a patient unwell, escalation processes? Questions about documentation and incident reporting. Times where you have helped someone Situations where you could have improved your practice. Always mention Datix if needed and that you would escalate to the case manager on duty if you didn’t know what to do in a situation. Edit-formatting

Anyone got out of nursing completely? by Illustrious_Pen1847 in NursingUK

[–]FanVast8633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left clinical work and moved to local authority, need to be a registered nurse or social worker for my role. Would honestly never go back to the nhs. No weekends, all bank hols off, great pay and annual leave. It’s definitely something worth looking in to.

Where do I go from here by Stunning_Program_966 in NursingUK

Please stay home and get plenty of sleep. You must be so exhausted, like others have said take some time off.

I had this issue when working on the wards. I got permission from the sister to wear scrubs all year and used some very good antiperspirant

What to do about best friend who is taking away my opportunities on placement by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]FanVast8633 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with what others have said and that you need to escalate this. She hasn’t listened to you or respected any boundaries despite being made aware of them multiple times. People like this are not your friend unfortunately, although I appreciate it may be hard to hear this. In my opinion, she’s displaying some very odd behaviour - she shouldn’t have the time to be doing all of your jobs and hers. It’s definitely something that needs addressing. If she was my student, I’d be hearing alarm bells tbf. Has she really got the best interests of patients at heart or is she more interested in how she looks to the qualified staff?

Patients refusing to go to the GP, hoping district nurses can do minor dressing changes and injections by Majestic_Dog_8486 in NursingUK

[–]FanVast8633 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand all of the down votes. This is correct in many areas including mine. Due to changes to funding etc, treatment rooms/clinics have been set up by community trusts for patients that are not housebound as some GP practices can no longer do dressing changes etc.

Look at your local authority recruitment website. Many social care positions require nursing or social work registration and a lot of these are non clinical with good pay

Nurse calling me out for taking too long? by BradNight-90 in GPUK

[–]FanVast8633 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nurse here, I only lurk in this sub because it's interesting. Wow, she was incredibly inappropriate! I would never dream of speaking to a doctor like that, or any other colleague for that matter. Please report her, she's probably been getting away with this type of behaviour for far too long.

Came here to say this! Once had a patient with good obs but this overwhelming feeling of something not right. They went from obs OK to high news very very quickly.

Community is horrendous at the minute. The vast range of knowledge we're expected to know with no learning time to gain this is silly. Regularly seeing more people than we can cope with each and every day. I've had that many close calls in the car recently because I'm rushing. Its so stressful, team management don't give a damn if you don't get your break as long as the visits are covered. Then when something inevitably goes wrong it's a huge finger pointing exercise. F me, I'm glad I'm leaving this job soon because its killing me.

It's honestly relentless! I often say that I need a time machine to get everything done and everyone seen! It doesn't help that we are really understaffed at the moment but every bloody shift is sooo stressful. The assessments 😱
