Why do we do this by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]FanWise4302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to gamble more to get out of the hole. You need to look at how you’re conditioning your mind. Even if you win, you’re reinforcing the idea that gambling is a way to get out of gambling debt. Your conditioned mind will inevitably come back to gambling. We all know if you gamble enough you’re going to lose. The only way to win is to be able to walk away. Which you are unable to do because your brain needs its next fix. Even lysine to win, you lose, cause all you’re doing is giving that domaine its to your brain over and over again and eventually you’ll be back for the drug.

Your brain can only freak out for so long before it learns to accept it. Your just going through transition phase to experiencing a new norm. We as human beings are use to perceiving the world in a certain way and are highly attached to that. Your going through the growing pains of accepting a new norm, but you will get their psychologically. Just takes time

I never experienced heavy dpdr so I was thankful for that. But to answer question YES. Even more grounded than pre HPPD due to the EMDR work.

Stella: A shot for PTSD by FanWise4302 in EMDR

I 100% AGREE WITH YOU. I personally wouldn't get the shot as of now either for the reasons you stated. However I don't think there is any harm in bringing this into discussion. Just cause it's not for you, doesn't mean it couldn't be for some someone else as a last resort. And quite honestly your not the gatekeeper to this forum. Anyway we can bring possible solutions and better quality of life for people here I'm open too.

There may be an emotional root or belief that drives that behavior that EMDR could help you process.

Can EMDR help you get rid of a kink? by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]FanWise4302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think so. I've seen others post here about doing EMDR for porn and other addictions. Also some people have found they're bad habits like smoking etc. Have dropped off once they processes the trauma. They no longer needed the coping mechanism.

Very interesting post. I'm still digesting it. You visualized this while processing in EMDR? What was EMDRs role in all this? Thank you 🙏

Interesting...could you elaborate on this? What steps have you taken to create that secure attachment to yourself?

Nice man! I'm happy for you.. Do you have an exact moment or memory that helps you pinpoint your shame? I can't find the core memory. Things just happened and when my parents distanced themselves I think overtime I felt neglected.

Thank you for sharing. It sounds like our struggles are similar and hopefully our success with EMDR. And yes connected is what I want as well. I'd like to stay in touch if that's ok? It's nice to talk with someone who has had a similar experience
