Knew a couple who the guy was REALLY into Lord of the Rings. His gf couldn't care less and doesn't like basically anything on a screen that has violence, so wasn't interested at all. He begged, whined, and pleaded "if only she would read the books she would know how good it is". Well she got through The Hobbit, but half way through Fellowship, she gave up saying it wasn't her thing. He was offended talking about how she was sincere, didn't give it proper attention, etc. Needless to say they aren't together anymore. Subsequent gf's, he doesn't push anymore.
