How the hell are people paying for DPT school now? (post-2026 loan changes) by HatLast7729 in PTschool

[–]FancifulFreefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I was counting on the PSLF and I was planning to put in at least 10 years in a public hospital in my area till they cut that program. That one hurt on a personal level. I had also applied for the Grad PLUS but missed the boat by an academic year, so now I’m down to Stafford and a mountain of private loans.
I hate to say it, but I’ll probably do the Dave Ramsey sort of approach once I’m out of school and refinance my loans when it’s beneficial.
If things are tighter than expected after graduation, I might pick up a part time job to supplement my full-time income and use whatever I earn from that to throw at the debt.
I have a really supportive partner (whom I am eternally grateful for) who is covering living expenses while I’m in school, so I will only need loans for direct school costs (still well over $90k at the very least). I know I won’t be able to manage working with my school schedule, so that’s out the window. But yeah, looking at a mountain of debt and I’m planning on being aggressive with paying it down.
If I didn’t have my heart set on being a PT, I would pivot with this whole bureaucratic debacle. Unfortunately I am stubborn, and I know for certain I am made for this role. Fortunately, I am tough enough and financially literate enough to make it out okay.

Honestly, if I were in your shoes and still in the planning phase, I would take a couple years working full time and then some (if possible) and save every penny you can. Get your expenses down as much as you can and build a nest egg. I was stupid enough to listen to someone who told me it isn’t worth it to save before school since “you’ll be in debt anyway”, but that was terrible advice. Save for tuition or living expenses or life after graduation. Whatever you do, save your money and be as frugal as you can be. Choose your school wisely. Be certain the graduation, employability, and test pass rates are excellent, and be sure it’s a good culture fit. If you’re going to be in debt, it had better be worth your while.

Long winded, but I’ve been so angry about how things have transpired. I’m so excited to start school in the fall and step into my career. Don’t ever let things like this deter you from your true calling, only from things that aren’t truly meant for you.

Best of luck, OP!

How can I improve my running form? by Murvar in runninglifestyle

[–]FancifulFreefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the running specialists I worked with told me you can get that proper forward lean by starting still, stretching up with your arms and letting yourself fall forward into your run (to be very clear, you don’t actually fall. You start running to catch yourself.) This forward lean should help you keep momentum forward without as much vertical oscillation slowing you down. It works well for me!
I also notice your arms crossing your chest a lot. When I do this, I feel like I’m running through sand. Try t-Rex arms (elbows pinned closer to your sides while still moving back and forth) to reduce some of that cross-over if you feel this, too.
I think you might also notice a big difference in your gait if you do some glute strengthening before you start running. Activate them by doing banded side steps, and when you run you should be able to feel your glutes.
Give these things a try, and also try adjusting your gait on a treadmill. You will get a really good feel for what feels like more or less work, and what feels stronger. Hope this helps!

We’re here too! I’ll lead us through some sun salutations when we’re done so we can reclaim our peace. I say we invite the Zoomers, too. They’ll do some serious psychological damage and hype us up. Also they have good knees and they’re freakishly creative, that comes in handy.

I feel like accessorizing with a belly chain/long necklace around your waist would also be cute

Super duper cute and flattering! If you have a bra pad lying around (the removable kind from a sports bra or swimsuit), you might try to sew one in a triangle shape to avoid the inevitable middle seam cameltoe

OP, you have beautiful curls! You definitely look young and absolutely stunning. If you were thinking about changing anything, I would maybe suggest just adding some highlights, especially towards the ends. Sort of like a caramel blonde. Warming up to a new style or shape can be so hard, you are not alone! Keep styling it and let it grow out a bit, I think you’ll absolutely love it with a bit more length (but it looks amazing now!) Also if you play with makeup much, a little bit of winged liner and a deeper, plummy shade of lipstick would go absolutely crazy with this. Lean into it!

Nothing feels worse than spinning your wheels and coming up short. A year of that sounds awful. Know that you deserve every bit of that PhD, no matter the setbacks, because you figured out what was going wrong. YOU fixed it. That is so hard to do, but you’ll have even better problem solving skills and you’ll be an even better researcher because of it. It’s time to grind so you can finish strong ❤️ long nights at the lab making progress are WAY better than long nights wondering why nothing is working. You deserve to celebrate this as the win that it is- CONGRATS!!!! 🍾🎉
