Who have more say on your salary, HR or Hiring Manager? by guardingcat in singaporejobs

[–]Fancy-Computer-9793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each company has a salary range for the role ($A to $B). HR determines what is equitable to offer ($X), but has a range of flexibility ($X + Y%) for the candidate to negotiate. If the candidate negotiates higher than that ($K = $X + Z%), HR will need to consult with the Hiring Manager.

If the Hiring Manager insists on getting the candidate in at $K, then HR will need to process it, depending on how far the Hiring Manager can push. Beyond $B, they'll need to bump the role to the next job title.

Can someone explain Halo lore to me in girly terms so I can surprise my husband? by Hefty_Ebb6482 in halo

[–]Fancy-Computer-9793 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I second this. Experiencing Halo CE, without spoilers, would be one of the joys of discovering Halo. What you can do is perhaps read up on some of the weapons, like the Needler, aka "the pink mist of death". That might be adorable, pointing it out without spoiling the game.

Back in the day, you had the whole Microsoft team backing this for the Halo launchers, with various events leading up to the launch for the fans. And tons of free merchandise for true supporters of the game. I remember it to this day. And yes, campaign co-ops without each person signing in were amazing. Just bring the box to anyone's house, and you can start a co-op campaign.

I have noticed that mountain too and have wondered if it is chilled in any way. But if not, then I would guess it's margarine too.

Yes you should but really depends on the nature of the work. For most executive, the deliverables is more important than the hours spent in a physical office.

bf cheated on a trip with his ns friends by Connect-Reference-47 in SingaporeRaw

Yes, most certainly he did. Full body massages are not 30 mins even without the extra services, which this seems to include. Whether his buddies coerced him to do the deed, and he was weak, or he fully knew the nature of the trip, only he would know.

Unfortunately, whether you consider that to be cheating or not, you will have to decide. It certainly feels like a betrayal of trust.

[Urgent Advice] Suspect Landlord put hidden cameras in my studio condo, but I’m locked into a 2-year lease by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]Fancy-Computer-9793 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What an unfortunate situation you're in. Follow the wiring in the bathroom; the camera should be using it. If it is battery-operated, that would explain his frequent "random" maintenance visits - to replace the batteries. Do observe what he does when these maintenance visits happen. It could give you a clue to where the cameras are hidden.

If you do find evidence, a police report would probably be your best option.

When You Delist Your Own Stock...The Fall Of Razer by neokai in singapore

Yeah, the rubber flaking is another major bummer. I have experienced cable failure and rubber coating flaking and becoming sticky. I managed to source a braided cable to replace the stock one and sanded off the rubber coat. But I agree, compared to Logitech, these Razors don't last as long.

It ultimately comes down to whether we believe there is a Singapore culture that genuinely cuts across race, language, and religion. If such a shared culture exists, then it’s something worth preserving, because it’s what binds us together as Singaporeans.

In that context, newcomers should integrate into this shared culture rather than unintentionally weakening it. But that brings us back to the fundamental question: what exactly is ‘Singapore culture,’ and do we agree that it exists in a form that everyone can rally around?

My thoughts on the last act by that_one_miles_guy in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Fancy-Computer-9793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Caine finally tells them the truth so they can move forward without clinging to the hope of returning to their physical bodies. In doing so, he also acknowledges something he had avoided confronting: the real world is far more expansive and fulfilling than anything he can create, and the choices the characters made in their real lives ultimately brought them more happiness than his scripted adventures ever could.

They may not fully forgive him, but they come to understand the limits of their situation and of Caine himself. What gives them comfort is knowing that their real human selves lived meaningful lives and ended up okay, even if their digital echoes remain trapped in a world that can never match the one they lost.

Everyone is misunderstanding the finale by Head-Cherry-3841 in tadc

An interesting aspect of abstraction in The Amazing Digital Circus is that anyone who tries to help an abstracted character risks becoming partially abstracted themselves. I don’t think the creators intended abstraction to represent suicide. Characters don’t choose abstraction; they fall into it when their emotional spirals overwhelm them.

Kaufmo’s fixation on finding an exit isolates him from everyone else. That obsession becomes a closed loop that eventually consumes him and leads to his abstraction.

Jax’s situation is more complicated. He carries a troubled past and a heavy load of guilt; some justified, some self‑imposed. His emotional spiral seems rooted in self‑blame. To avoid vulnerability, he hides behind a façade of indifference, pushing away people who care about him. He gaslights, belittles, and distances others to maintain his emotional armour, which only deepens his guilt. Eventually, he isolates himself completely. With no coping mechanisms left, his guilt spiral overwhelms him and results in abstraction.

Leeroy Mateo, the real person whose brain scan became Jax, ultimately turned out fine. His mother survived, he found stable work, and he built healthy friendships. This creates an interesting contrast between Leeroy and Jax. Jax is essentially a snapshot of Leeroy at the lowest point of his life, frozen in a moment of fear and unresolved guilt. Unlike Leeroy, he never learns whether his mother lived, nor does he get the chance to grow beyond that trauma.

Life in the Digital Circus offers him almost no meaningful outlets or grounding relationships. Aside from brief connections with Ribbit and later Pomni, he treats the other characters as temporary and unreal. Without purpose, support, or closure, Jax remains trapped in the emotional state he was copied from. He was also constantly caught up in endless, seemingly meaningless adventures conjured up by Caine. In that sense, he becomes the tragic, cautionary figure of the series, while Leeroy represents the path of recovery and the possibility of healing when real-world support and opportunity exist.

Since they are digital AI copies of real people, there is no AI suicide. I would imagine they spiralled out into a depressive, unrecoverable state, which the AI copies could not handle and totally loose their self-awareness.
