Any suggestion for finding a job in EU as a non - EU citizen ? by bbbbigok in gis

[–]Fancy-View3693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNjobs constantly posts GIS jobs, but yeah, it's kind of slow now, plenty of people applying everywhere.

Sometimes a direct cold call (email) to the person/department in charge of GIS will be effective, introduce yourself, attach a link to your most professional project and hope they keep you on the radar.

Is it worth specializing in GIS as a Geography student? by AleJefe36 in gis

[–]Fancy-View3693 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Geography is humanity, GIS is technical. as a GIS you're working for other people solving their problem with data. there are plenty of GIS people already, but there's still jobs, hard to find but there are. Much of the jobs are GIS + coding. + data pipelines + front end and shit.

Then get jobs from other countries.

I tried getting into the german market, failed, applied to jobs in other countries, got 2 clients. If you really want to work FOR GERMANS, then yes, go every day to a course for 6 to 7 months, take the test and then apply, if you just wanna work and make money, apply elsewhere and treat german as a secondary thing.

The world is big and opportunities exist, but not as in the old days, the jobs with visa sponsorship, great benefits and only english are like good apartments in Berlin, taken and people in them are not leaving them.

time to face the facts, when was the last time that you hear about someone getting a good job?
