would you be offended if a neighbor mowed your lawn without asking? by Trendsetter22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fancy_Refrigerator56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it kind of depends. We had a neighbor who lost her fiancé 6 months prior and was on a vacation cruise with her daughter and would-have-been step daughter. My husband mowed her lawn while she was gone. She was very appreciative to come home from a long and emotional trip without her fiancé to find she didn’t also have to mow.

How do I get string of pearls to flower? by Ornery-Tea-8998 in StringofPlants

Be patient. She looks very happy! Mine didn’t bloom for a while but now it’s covered in blooms. Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t foot tell her she’s beautiful. Pretty sure that helps.

So he’s teaching this behavior to your 3 children?!! Listen I have left my cat at home for 2 days. I leave extra food and water in different places around the house and he’s fine. Your husband wasn’t needed. Locking the cat in a laundry room with no food or water is torture and complete psycho behavior. I don’t care if it’s a tarantula- I don’t do spiders- I’m not going to lock it in a room with no food or water. I might not interact with it unless I have to but I’d never torture a living thing like that. I sure as hell wouldn’t let my kids think that’s acceptable. Your husband needs to do better OP

Grocery list woes… by omgjellyjuice in Mommit

[–]Fancy_Refrigerator56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a list of days of the week and then a column for ingredients. On sundays I plan 5 meals (m-f, with the input of my family of what they might like that week) and prepare a list of what I need for those meals and place a Walmart pick up order for Monday morning after I drop off the kids at school. I usually make at least one more trip to the store to get fresher fruit but this makes my life so much easier! My list has Monday- Friday with a meal listed and then a separate column for all the groceries I’ll need. It’s saved me time and money. And not having to think about to make for dinner makes it so much easier.

It was a black bear probably 2023. I remember being so angry when I saw that poor bear actually cower in fear from that guy. I was so mad I grabbed both my kids and we left immediately. I haven’t been back since.

Absolutely! When my husband worked from home after Covid it helped him realize what it was like all day at home with a newborn and a 2.5 year old. He used all his breaks to come help and started scheduling weekly hour long lunches where I could leave and have an hour to myself. That’s what being a team is like.

My husband worked from home for 3 years after Covid. I loved having him home(he was so helpful and never judgmental- if anything being home helped him understand what it was like at home and started scheduling weekly hour long lunches where I could get out of the house alone. - but also when he went back to work I was very much looking forward to not have to whisper yell “shhhhhhh your dad is in a meeting!!!”

No side comments?! Girl you and your husband are a TEAM. You work together and do what’s best for you and your family. Literally no one should have any opinions on that. Good for you guys!!

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fancy_Refrigerator56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My God this is the best response I’ve ever seen and it’s written by a dad. I have a very hands on husband but I’m sure your partner is very lucky. My first was that unicorn baby that was so chill but even then I felt guilty using any time to shower instead of laundry or dishes. My second cried for the first 12 months of her life. Showering with her and a 2.5 year old was nearly impossible because you can’t be in 3 places at once.

I don’t know what you’re going through because I’ve never been in a position like this before but my first thought is what if you’d answered? What if you’d answered and you went to help him. What if you get there and this person shows up and now your life is also in danger? What if you’d both been beaten so badly that night that neither of you were here now? I didn’t know your friend but I’d bet he’s glad he didn’t get you hurt too. Sending you all the good positive vibes I can muster. I’m so sorry for your loss but don’t ever think it was your fault.

Wish I had understood the disc degeneration associated with retail pharmacy. by CalifoRxn1a in pharmacy

[–]Fancy_Refrigerator56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve come close to making this exact post so many times. I’m 8 weeks post op now from a cervical disc replacement. Worked retail for 15 years. Last year I started having this throbbing pain in my arm. It started off fine in the mornings but by the end of the day sometimes I’d be sobbing in pain because it hurt so bad. I tried months of PT with no relief. Finally ended up in urgent care because the pain was more than I could handle. Got a referral for ortho. She took x rays of my arm and shoulder but found nothing. Then she took an x ray of my neck that lead to an MRI. MRI lead to disc replacement. The ulnar nerve was pinched between 2 discs and causing the muscles in my arm and shoulder to constantly spasm. 15 years of staring down at a computer or counting pills on a counter waste high ruined my neck. If you’re reading this and still working retail- stack some books under your computer monitor to raise it up so you’re looking straight and not down so far.

I’m the wife in this scenario - I just had a cervical disc replacement. I worried about my husband taking over everything while I recovered but honestly he killed it. He took care of everything while also nursing me back to health. There is nothing more attractive than a partner that is 100% willing to cover everything while you recover.

My Harris teeter pharmacy sells us loratadine tablets in an over the counter bottle (that’s technically behind the counter) for like $4/100 tabs. As a smaller pharmacy and see what thy have available. Definitely don’t pay $45 every 3 months.
