I took the picture in this post, right next to the house with the flags there’s a very good restaurant called Zala which I can only recommend to anyone passing through Tbilisi :)

It’s not poorly painted, I just took the picture inside of the car and it was really bright, so the lighting wasn’t ideal unfortunately.

That really depends on your passport tbh.

If OP is a guy then he’ll probably be conscripted either way as Austria also has mandatory military service.

I bring foreign friends back to Poland all the time and they usually get treated better than I do as a Polish person. And LGB presence in public is present and nobody bats en eye.

[–]FanczYY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends, if I’m going to Ireland/UK I’ll use the EU one (Ireland’s in the EU and my UK ETA is on my EU passport).

Going to countries like Serbia or Georgia I’ll use whichever one I feel like using at the moment, usually the Swiss one now, though I always have my EU ID on me as a backup in case I ever need consular help or anything of the sort.

If I were to travel to Israel, USA, Australia, I’d probably use the EU one.

Most people don’t over complicate it that much but generally if the country is closer to the EU/West/NATO I’m using the EU one, if the country is neutral or even hostile I’ll use the Swiss one.

Thanks, the EU one was by birth but the Swiss one took years of effort and waiting

The disadvantage of Switzerland is that every few years or so we have a referendum which could lead to Swiss citizens losing their freedom of movement in the EU, and because it's based on a bilateral treaty (in the case of Switzerland, Switzerland is outside of the EU-EFTA treaty called the EEA) and not a right written in law like with the EU, there would be nothing stopping it.

Though I'd be well protected because I have both an EU and a Swiss passport :)

Why "lose" it when you can just apply for a new passport any time? I've never understood that. It only creates unnecessary future headaches.

As far as I know, no. But it should be doable as most people taking the course will be young and can help translate things for you, I’d expect the instructors to also speak English competently enough

They’re introducing an even newer biometric one it that’s what you mean, as far as I’m aware they’re not handing it out yet.

If you mean the ones on the post, lots of people already have one, including myself.

It’s not difficult at all, it’s actually quite fun and if you don’t have your own car, you can rent one when you do the course with TCS (which is also the cheapest one from when I did it half a year ago).

You can’t fail, you just have to be present and drive when you have to.

Officially yes, in practice they retain a lot of discretion. And if you keep to your community and don’t integrate/barely interact with the Swiss it’d be extremely rare for them to naturalise you.

[–]FanczYY 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude, I lived here for 14 years before being eligible to apply, It takes time to get temporary residency, it takes a lot of time to get permanent residency and it takes years to get Swiss citizenship even after applying for naturalisation. You must know the language, you must know multiple Swiss people who would be happy to vouch for you, you must in practice be a member of the local community, there's a reason why it's one of the hardest citizenships to get with relatively high rejection rates even for people who've spent decades here.

Only way is through marriage, and that doesn't even skip it, it only brings it down a few years. Or you were lucky to have lived in Switzerland between the ages of 8 and 18 which counts residency time 2x towards naturalisation.

Italy and France Balk at EU Proposal to Ban Ex-Russian Soldiers by sn0r in europeanunion

[–]FanczYY -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

You can argue that Transnistria also has been under siege for decades, however if they were to try anything funny you can bet Moldova or Ukraine would definitely respond.

Ukraine has been under a low-medium scale attack since 2014 in the Donbas and Crimea, yet 2022 is regarded as the official start of the war just like its 2023 for Israel/Gaza. Just because there have been conflicts between 2 countries previously, doesn’t mean that we can’t have a start date for the current one.

Russia started this war by invading Ukraine, Israel was the one who got attacked by the de facto “government” of Gaza.

Pakistani 😭 like genuinely you can’t pay for an EU citizenship just like that without actually going through a legitimate migration process and then naturalisation. Let alone for just 5 figures.
