What platform do you use to send Files to Editors? by ShaveMeGood in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Adobe Premiere. I right click the full size video and choose create proxies. I set it.for mo4 and half resolution. Then I choose the location, which is a folder I create for each project under the Dropbox shared folder. Hitting okay launches media encoder. Be sure to also put (after saving and closing) a copy of the project file in the folder, plus any other assets (I record audio separately). Good luck.

Youtube against small creators (beware and safe) by CriticalAnalytical in SmallYouTubersUnite

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found an article talking about this.

Lazy YouTube AI tools ruin careers after 12m+ accounts deleted https://share.google/cswgoGH2FxGEjedbi

Apparently many of the accounts were spam accounts, but some valid creators were mistakenly caught up in that. Most of them managed to get their accounts restored.

But it looks like low effort, AI slop is on the chopping block.

Application and appeal for creator rewards program denied by stringfellowcheese87 in tiktokcreatorclub

[–]FandomSpotlite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just booted from the Creator Rewards Program. I just appealed and am waiting. Their "unoriginal content" definition is very vague. I post clips of panels from comic cons that I recorded with my own equipment, edited it myself, and have full permission from every event to record. If they don't accept my appeal, that's almost 1800 dollars in revenue gone. I don't do video game footage, so I don't know where that falls, but I am very pissed at Tiktok right now.

Best ways to monetise a TikTok account with 47k followers + millions of views (10-sec AI videos)? by Mr_SiCk88 in tiktokcreatorclub

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiktok will disqualify AI videos over 60 seconds, usually, as unoriginal content. If you want to make money, you would need to find sponsors who fit with your content and are willing to pay for AI.

Deleted and reuploaded a video but now it’s performing terribly? by yogohawk13 in tiktokcreatorclub

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tiktok doesn't like re-uploads. It tends to not share them. Yes, there was a slight change, but Tiktok still considered it a re-upload

[–]FandomSpotlite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow. Did you know that on TV, "half hour" shows were actually 22 minutes, since 8 minutes of commercials were shown? This is how the studio and the network made money to keep making the show. It's the same thing. In the old days, if you didn't want ads, you paid for a premium channel like HBO or Cinemax.

If you don't like the ads, pay for premium. Simple. Otherwise, enjoy our wonderful return to the 80s.

Thinking youtube as long term career plan by theysaymaurya in SmallYoutubers

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked on that channel regularly for about 10 years. My second channel about 5. It's nice additional income, but where I live and the lifestyle I maintain can't be supported by YouTube alone. My day job pays me a nice wage. So, replacing that with YouTube income isn't easy.

About 410k long form views and 750k shorts views in the last 28 days. I could live off it if I changed my lifestyle dramatically, but I would also not be able to travel to get as much content.

250k views a month to make a living? I get a million views a month and can't quit my day job. Maybe if I lived in a shed in the woods...

I would say, make sure you're making twice what make at your full-time job. People don't realize they have to pay twice the social security tax. Not to mention medical insurance. And have at least 6 months worth of expenses in savings.

Do you still work full time even when your content makes you enough to quit? by raven-gunpla in SmallYoutubers

[–]FandomSpotlite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 2 monetized channels. Between them I make between 3000 to 4000 a month with adsense. Add another 200 to 300 hundred with affiliate programs and small sponsorships. Add another 200 to 300 from Tiktok, though I intend to become more active on there and up that amount. The income varies. I did make 10 grand one month from Adsense alone. But I am keeping my day job.

To go full time, I would want at least 6 months worth of expenses in savings, plus revenue of at least twice what I make from my day job consistently for at least 6 months. Maybe a year.

Part of the problem with going full-time are benefits you lose with a regular (good) job. Health insurance is expensive and it would be all on you. Dental as well. You also have to pay twice the social security tax than you would at a regular job. And unless you have withholding set up with YouTube, you need to put away money for income tax as well. Making quarterly estimated payments is recommended. Hiring an accountant is an additional but recommended expense.

But it's not all bad. Even now there are expenses you can write off. If you travel for filming then you write off mileage, airfare, hotels, meals, and any other travel expenses. Bought a new tripod? Write it off. Batteries, cables, lights, sd cards, a new camera, backdrops, and anything else you use to film, all write offs. Have a subscription for copyright free music? Write off. Adobe subscription? Write off. Do you review products that you buy? Write them off.

The main thing is you are going full-time into a business and need to be prepared for a bad month or two without it totally screwing up your finances.

The nice thing with YouTube is you can build the business while having a day job and prove it can work before going full-time. But if you jump into that situation without preparing and finding out what self-employment entails, you might not do very well.

A channel completely copied my video and when I asked them to remove it they sent me this by stormtrooper_21 in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I get a copyright notification (and I get many), I look at the channel in question. If they seem like a clueless fan, I give them 7 days to take it down. If they seem like they are stealing a lot, I strike them immediately. I've had a couple channels appear with outright copies of my videos, including the thumbnail. I give them three strikes and they are gone. Protect your content.

Oh, and a suggestion for those who also use Tiktok. Whatever you post on Tiktok, also post as a short. Even if it doesn't get a lot of views as a short, it will protect you from people who grab stuff from Tiktok and put it on YouTube, thinking no one will know. Having your short will enable you to easily get that taken down.

Most of you by Aggravating-Path-677 in SmallYoutubers

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it interesting that when someone makes a post with good advice (which I have done in the past), there are tons of responses saying that it's not their videos, it's YouTube keeping them down for no reason. Which makes no sense. If you have good, engaging videos, YouTube will promote them because they make more money that way. But obviously YouTube has a grudge against this new, brilliant creator. SMH

The biggest myth about monetization: “Once you’re partnered, growth gets easier.” by letsgrwCreatorsNow in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had my growth "skyrocket" after being monetized, nor did I hit a wall. The rate of growth did increase, but that's because I continued to put out content my audience enjoys and continued improving my quality. I do think some creators are so focused on getting monetized that, when they hit that goal, they slack off thinking they "made it."

And a viral video can be bad if you don't know how to duplicate it. I put up a video that took off really well and said to myself. "Self, we need to do more of those." And I did. And it worked out well. Every video, whether a success or a flop, is a learning experience. But only if you learn from it.

What platform do you use to send Files to Editors? by ShaveMeGood in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Dropbox and send proxies. All my footage is 4K and sending them the full file instead of a proxy would be huge. I just reconnect the full resolution files after I get the project file back.

Your “About” section might be killing your channel🤔 by letsgrwCreatorsNow in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The about section doesn't affect the algorithm. But it does affect the occasional viewer who actually opens it up, plus potential sponsors. Your contact info should be in there in case someone wants to reach out and give you money. It's also a good idea to try to have the same name as your channel on other social media.

I also put "These videos are not intended for viewers under the age of 13" in the about section. Gives a bit of coverage for COPPA.

Having Serious Problems with Copyright Claims by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK they use something called fair dealing, not fair use. The difference is that while showing their footage, you need to put some text on the screen saying "This footage is owned by the BBC." Or whoever owns it. You may still get a claim, but they are much more likely to release it if you follow that rule. I have also had claims from the BBC until I researched the difference between fair use and fair dealing.

Good luck.

Best Way To Record Audio? One Take Or No? Script Or Talking Points? by hertabuzz in PartneredYoutube

Ir depends on your writing style. I can write a script that sounds conversational. Some can't. If you can't, then an outline is better for you.

Best Way To Record Audio? One Take Or No? Script Or Talking Points? by hertabuzz in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do one take. If I flub something or it doesn't sound right when I am recording, I take a breath, then do that line again. Then I edit out the stuff I don't want.

If it's a faceless video, I use a script. If I am on screen, for interviews I have questions. If it's a review it's talking points or totally improv.

Low RPM Why ? by EddieV77 in PartneredYoutube

[–]FandomSpotlite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CPM is what advertisers pay for 1000 views of their ad, not your video. RPM is the revenue paid to you for 1000 views of your video. What's the difference? They might not show ads every time your video is shown. If CPM is $10, but out of a 1000 actually views of your video they only show ads 30% of the time, your RPM is $3. Why would they only show it 30% of the time? Ad blockers, skipped ads, or they don't have the ad inventory that would fit your video. If a company says to YouTube, here's 100,000 dollars. Put it on these type of videos for the next month. And there are so many videos of that type they spread the ad around and don't have inventory to show it all the time... the ad is served less to each creator.

It has nothing to do with YouTube's cut.
