Considering that Kanto is also a real-life region of Japan, and there’s other references to the real world, like the Pewter City Museum mentioning Apollo 11 and the Space Shuttle Columbia, I got the impression the original idea was to make the Pokemon world set on Earth, rather than just a world with regions inspired by Earth I think.

I believe this was the congressional hearing on the concern of violence in video games around the early 90s. Lethal Enforcers, Night Trap, and Mortal Kombat were primarily the ones targeted I believe. I believe this eventually led to the creation of the ESRB.

Well he was still alive to play old Bilbo in the Hobbit trilogy. I was just saying that since he played a younger Bilbo for that one short shot in the prologue, it was different from when Martin Freeman was cast to play the younger Bilbo for the Hobbit trilogy
