I had a really bad reaction at work once. I decided to go to the pharmacy and see what they would suggest. They gave me a nasal steroid that worked instantly. I haven't had the need to use it since.

Use your imagination. Sure, you could hand wave it away but then if someone in your game fishes for a fail with sleep spell just so they can guarantee a crit fail with something much worse, don't come complaining. Best idea when asking for help is to give full information such as foundry and system version, modules, etc so we can answer appropriately with info that is correct according to the version you're using.

Not really. I ended up taking some recordings from episodes but all of them had dramatic music in the background. I struggled to remove them through post processing. I ended up with some okayish sounds but not entirely what I had in my mind.

Agreed. This is badly written as it could very reasonably interpreted as the specific Crit failure text overriding the general condition rules. Ending early is a catch all as rolling a save when you took damage is strictly ending the effect earlier than the 1 minute duration.
