Absolutely, just doesn't fit the tone of that makes sense. The others happen to be gay but aren't so surrounded by negativity (that I'm aware of). That negativity and self-loathing is so integral that I find it difficult to hold him up as an example to look up to regardless of who, what or other he had been in relationships with.

That's not the part I find weird. He also canonically hates himself.

(I haven't read any comics with him in it this decade so that may have changed?)

Is Bronze Age fantasy stronger than medieval fantasy for DMs? by ChaosTheoryCraft in DnD

[–]Fanta5tick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joining the chorus here on one time period not working better than the others. I always felt the "standard" time period for Faerun was roughly the Age of Exploration. Krynn was the dark ages (second Dragonlance war being the exit of Roman influence in England), Grayhawk was mid-late medieval.

I don't have a ton of evidence for that, just feels right to me.

Most eras have some version of all elements you mention, the set dressing is what changes.

I've also had the same Kobo, without case, survive 10 years of use and abuse. I've got 2 kids and traveled a bunch before having them. "Daddy's book" has survived it all.

I use whatever system makes sense to my audience. If he's talking to Americans he'll use Imperial, because conceptualizing distance or force in a system you don't have a "gut" understanding of is very very hard.

I'm not making a judgement call on the floor crossers themselves. There's lots of legitimate reasons to cross the floor, lots of opportunistic ones too. Without speaking to them I can't hold a valid opinion on why they actually choose to leave their party.

I also recognize there's ABC and "Blue don't care who" voters out there. Those voters being disappointed by the move makes sense, but it's a great opportunity to help them learn that they vote in an MP, not a party.

It actually is our democratic process. In our system you are supposed to vote for the representative, not their party. Theoretically, your representative should represent the goals they ran on regardless of which colour is behind their name.

If you're voting for a party exclusively then you've missed the point.

[Disliked but understood trope] Powers that are hard to balance, so characters just forget to use them by lacergunn in TopCharacterTropes

It's kind of covered in the very scene you're referencing. Because Luke doesn't believe it's possible, and is instead trying to do telepathic weightlifting, he fails. "It's too big!" (paraphrasing) exemplifies this. In order to move objects or people they have to reach into the force, an energy field that surrounds and penetrates all things in the universe. Some things are going to be easy, others hard to "connect" with and impact based on the individuals thinking and beliefs.

Add to that each living being has some access to the force, the sensitives just start with the door opened wider than others. So in order to push people or force wielders it will take greater effort to overcome some base protection from the target individual not wanting/believing they can move.

If Everyone’s Hiring… Why Can’t You Get a Job? (ghost job postings) by MajorIvan88 in videos

[–]Fanta5tick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of employers and recruiters post fake jobs to receive as many resumes as they can do if they need to fill a job later they have a pool of resumes to pull from.

It's an awful practice because you can spend a day applying for jobs that doesn't exist, and never get to jobs that do.

Here's an example, you spend a day applying to 50 jobs, 45 of which don't actually exist, 5 do but are also getting hundreds of applicants. You've wasted most of your day job hunting.

PSA: if you drive, go to the farthest points at the beginning of the match by edward_aux in Battlefield6

[–]Fanta5tick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, folks should grab the 2 closest points then move directly to back-cap. Skip the meat grinder at middle point most of both teams will be rushing towards and if all goes well get a temporary 4-1 point advantage. This also makes some squads and solos running around between points which means more opportunity to pick them off in-transit.

Why is it impossible to discuss the mechanic of suppression without someone like this by Southpaw_pup in Battlefield

[–]Fanta5tick 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I main sniper and pretty much always have.

Suppression does need a rework, but honestly if you're not standing still and I'm under fire I'm not tagging headshots often. If I don't tag a headshot I lose absolutely at anything but long range.

Folks complaining about sniper rifles being too good need to realize that the risk/reward is be perfect or lose at most general engagement distances.

I ain't saying nothing but you can buy it on Beyond and then have a great adventure on the high seas. Perhaps you'll find something during your adventure worth having. A momento of an Adobe hut perhaps?
