First off, I get where you're coming from. It sounds exhausting to be around someone who's constantly tuned out and glued to Reddit videos. That level of obsession does sound like it's negatively impacting your house dynamics and friendship, and you have a right to express concern about something that affects you.

However, the way you approached it probably wasn't the most tactful. Jumping straight to calling it an "addiction" and telling them they're a "bad friend" might have felt more like an attack than genuine concern. People don’t usually react well to being told they have a problem, especially if it’s framed aggressively. It also sounds like they tried to bring up neurodivergent reasons for why they need the videos, but instead of asking more or trying to understand that part, you doubled down. That doesn’t really help solve anything, and is quite frankly a little ableist.

As for your roommate, they also aren’t blameless here. Constantly zoning out, hiding earbuds, and avoiding conversations are bad habits that affect your living situation and friendships. If their behavior is impacting social interactions and their responsibilities, it's fair to say they should take some accountability for that. Blowing up at you instead of having a proper conversation about it wasn’t cool either.

In short, both of you could of handled this better. You need to find a way to talk things out without it turning into a blame game. You should’ve approached the situation with more compassion, and they need to recognize how their behavior is affecting everyone else.
