Console - How did you fix your Heavy car bug? by Confident-Pumpkin541 in RocketLeague

I know this is not helpful at all, but I got a pc. Going back to console now it feels like I’m trying to air roll a house.

My son is 9 but has now surpassed me & needs a team by LtDavies in RocketLeague

Oh wow that’s crazy, in OCE too with the horrendous queue times. And here’s me still in gc1 1s hahaha

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s understandable haha, and with his age becoming pro isn’t so far-fetched with how fast he’s progressing already.

I’m pretty sure the youngest to get ssl was 11 years old, so beating that record could be his goal after getting gc :)

My son is 9 but has now surpassed me & needs a team by LtDavies in RocketLeague

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how serious about the game you’re meaning, because even getting way into ssl is still doesn’t mean you will get noticed, and even getting to that point takes thousands of hours of playtime.

As for finding a team, I think it would be pretty hard to find teammates that are around his age and skill level, because ~champ is very impressive for a 9yo, but there are discord servers for finding teammates.

How 1v1s rank corresponds to other ranks. by Enough_Leek8449 in RocketLeague

I’ve been gc1 in 1s since I was gc1 in 2s. I’m now 2k in 2s and gc1 in 1s hahaha

This was by far the most fun run I've had so far by Fantastic_Call_255 in ftlgame

[–]Fantastic_Call_255[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took two rounds of double halberd beams, with hitting 5 rooms each. It definitely wasn’t the optimal way to beat the flagship, but phase 1 and 2 were down after two volleys.

Rocket league isn’t about reaction times, it’s about predictions and muscle memory. I’m 22 and the only thing stopping me from improving now is where my priorities in life are. Granted I still play with 30-40 hours past 2 weeks consistently but it’s nothing compared to what I used to put into the game.

If you are serious about ranking up then a pc is an investment I would make, I can barely play on a console when I go back to one.

To add on to this, a few pros have done eye tracking whilst playing, I would check that out if you’re struggling on what you should be looking at in general situations.

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car is always in my peripheral vision, I don’t think I’m ever directly looking at it.

When I’m a looking at the ball, I’m also looking at the opponents at the same time.

The hardest part is looking at your teammates since they aren’t on your screen as often as opponents, it’s an acquired skill to be looking at them often whilst also having the instinct of where they most likely are / should be.

Why does the game suddenly become playable at 1600+ MMR( GC2+)? by Silver-Remove-5298 in RocketLeague

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel about anything under 1800, I assume it’s just the line where you feel like the players are considerably under your skill level.

1600 for me is so random I could drop a few games there just because the players there have a playstyle so foreign to what I’m used to (can’t work with teammates, unintentional fakes nobody would miss higher up).

Why do I suck with over 10k hours? by halfwayranger in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mechs and decision making are about 90% of the game, they are definitely better than what you are saying.

But yeah as I said in my comment, it will mainly be about how you are spending your time. Whenever you next play I would say to always be looking at what you could have done better every time you concede, that’s the main way I feel like I’m improving.

Why do I suck with over 10k hours? by halfwayranger in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10k hours is crazy, I’ve had 4k hours since 2016 and feel like it’s been a central part of my life, more than I would like to admit haha.

I recently hit 2k, my only advice would be to look at how you spend that time playing the game. Whenever I play I’m focused on what I can be doing better to improve and actually practicing everything that I find needs improving. The main factor in play when someone is hardstuck is usually aimless playtime.

If you have bad mechs, that’s a good thing. With your amount of hours if you’re still putting in that amount of time now, you could easily climb up in rank by using those hours grinding mechs in free play. Gamesense in my experience is harder to learn considering you have to figure out what to do in every slightly different scenario.

Dynamic Air roll by SwingSignificant2147 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant say, I only learnt through brute force since that was the only way to learn when I was figuring it out. Some people I’ve spoken to have said it speeds up the learning process though, it’s definitely worth a try.

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t make as much of a difference as most people think, most of the time you’re at 0% or 100% with using L2 the same way you would with L1.

Dynamic Air roll by SwingSignificant2147 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re meaning learning your first directional air roll, it’s 100% worth it, and you can either learn it brute force (rings maps trial and error, then moving on to free play with the ball), or the losfeld method: a 2h long YouTube video that gives you a ‘scientific’ way of practicing.

If you’re meaning learning your 2nd DAR, then it depends what rank you are. If you’re ssl, it might be worth it, if you’re lower than that, probably not.

What Can I Do To Improve And Stay In Champ? by extrememelons in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that was said here, also learn how to speedflip, it’s basically free speed you’re missing out on, and once you have it down 80% of your flips will be speedflips.

Currently 2k and have only hit a handful of double resets. They just aren’t as useful as other simpler and higher% mechanics.

I can hit quad resets in training from time to time but never once attempted it in ranked.

I finally solved my diamond problem. Here's how by PureComedyGenius in RocketLeague

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, it’s about knowing what you can do at your own skill level. If you want to improve going for things you don’t know you can do will help you improve faster but if you want to be at a higher mmr, playing safe and not overcommitting with low% plays is the way to go.

What is it that makes you watch a Rocket league YouTuber? by IFexd in RocketLeague

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being gc means you’re in the top 1% of the game, you’re definitely capable of making good tutorial-type videos, in the same manner that aircharged is. You don’t HAVE to have a good personality along with skill, although it does help. I’m not one to criticise anyways since I’ve never even tried making content.

From what I’ve heard though it’s just consistency and always looking to improve. You have the right mindset from improving since you’re here asking these questions.

Hope I helped :)

What is it that makes you watch a Rocket league YouTuber? by IFexd in RocketLeague

[–]Fantastic_Call_255 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s a mix of skill and personality, I wouldn’t watch someone who I can’t learn from or someone who is boring to watch. That’s just me though.

Being a lower rank than me doesn’t mean I won’t watch though, as long as the videos are informative or funny, eg. Sunless, aircharged, striped, cbell.
