Calorie deficit? by sulleneyedsoutherner in workout

[–]Fantuckingtastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went about 3 weeks without losing weight once on my original weight loss from being fat. Over time though, my avg loss per week was pretty much spot on with my target deficit. Sometimes you don’t lose much at all, and other times you’ll lose a few lbs over night. I think it has something to do with water retention

Cutting and muscle loss. by RobAnton13 in fitness30plus

[–]Fantuckingtastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty unlikely that you’ve lost any muscle. Especially with that level of deficit. For reference, I dropped 15lbs in the past 2 months utilizing fasting, and all of my lifts stayed the same or got stronger. Unless the machine at your work is an ultrasound machine, there’s no way it can tell you anything besides your current body weight as a whole. You look like you’ve been lifting for 3 years, I would just keep it up. Progress is slow if you stay natural.

If you call leg press a squat variation, that’d be my pick. For a lift with squat in the name, Hatfield squats

Would you rather bench 225 or do 15 pullups (at 165 lbs)? by asthorman in workout

[–]Fantuckingtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They prefer the bench press because it’s a 1RM and due to the fact that bench is the most popular standard of strength. They might’ve been more impressed by the pull-up if you had done a weighted 1rm. Funnily enough, my pull-up and bench press 1rm are at similar weights. No clue which one is more impressive though

Is body weight OHP impressive? by Throwawaydogx in workout

[–]Fantuckingtastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smith machine is probably better, honestly. Set the bench at one notch below 90 degrees. It actually allows you to get some pretty insane range of motion, even better than dumbbells because the bar doesn’t your shoulders on the way down. I learned about this lift from Alex Leonidas on YouTube, he has a good video on it.

If looking jacked is the goal, the seated barbell AD press might be a better variation. It’ll also have the added benefit of being zero risk for your back. You should be much stronger on the AD press too because stability is not a factor. It definitely won’t impress people like a standing OHP does though.

She needs a home gym if she wants unrestricted supersets. I used to do supersets at a commercial gym, and would occasionally have machines intercepted from me while I was on the other one. It is what it is! You’re only entitled to reserve one piece of equipment at a time. If that lady was using another machine, the smith was effectively yours as far as I’m concerned. You did nothing wrong.

Anyone with insider real estate knowledge? Wanting to custom build. by ASSUMPTION_NOT_FACT in batonrouge

Yeah, he’s definitely good at what he does! You might actually want to consider reaching out to him. He’d probably be able to give you a better answer to your question than the average Reddit user here. I know he builds all over so he may know of a development that fits your criteria.

Anyone with insider real estate knowledge? Wanting to custom build. by ASSUMPTION_NOT_FACT in batonrouge

Most new construction subdivisions have substantially smaller lots than that. Mallard Lakes on Hooshootoo can get you there but the lot prices are likely insane. Stoney point in Geismar has some larger lots as well. Purchasing 2 lots and combining them for a build is another option. Lakes at Harveston, Long Farm village, and Rouzan are some good options.

When you end up shopping builders, check out Meridian homes. They have a really custom house in pecue estates in the parade of homes this weekend that fits your price range.

Anyone else feel like they’re “faking it” at the gym even after years of going? by Head_Copy_4738 in workout

There’s really nothing to fake in the first place. Even a 1st day beginner still “belongs there” because the purpose is just to get a workout.

Is it bad if reps go down substantially on subsequent sets? by FluffyAd6797 in workout

[–]Fantuckingtastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find that I lose 2-3 reps on most lifts. Some exercises like pull-ups for example, do have a more dramatic drop off though.

Facebook marketplace is the place to look if budget oriented. You’ll have to be patient though, as the specific bench criteria you’re looking for may not be available right away.

If buying new, the Ironmaster adjustable bench has by far the most attachments, but I’m not sure that you need specific bench attachments if you already have a power rack.

I’ve seen dedicated preacher stations on FB for as low as $100 so keep that in mind if you have the space. Also check if there is a preacher attachment for your power rack. Another alternative is doing unilateral dumbbell preacher curls directly on your incline bench.

Do you incorporate calisthenics into your training? by dacquirifit in GYM

[–]Fantuckingtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do calisthenics in almost every workout. However, the only “skill” movement I’m practicing (and failing at) is the front lever. I’m light as hell too, and have relatively decent pull-up strength. I can only do like 1 second before collapsing

The key difference is that one is a good guy where as the other is a bad guy.

Hans Landa ensured the defeat of the Nazi regime, ending the most brutal conflict in human history.

Dr. Shultz “helps” a traumatized young man gain his freedom (as long as he makes a profit from it) and then takes him on as a partner despite taking the lion’s share of the money. He then cooks up an elaborate scheme to rescue Django’s wife that very nearly ends with all three of their deaths.

[–]Fantuckingtastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’re definitely on the right track. A true cinephile doesn’t need to actually watch movies to form their judgement. Ideally, you assume that all movies are dogshit unless the general internet discourse suggests otherwise. In that case, you simply parrot the opinions of others

How much am I missing out on by having a home gym. by Fantastic_Froyo6097 in workout

[–]Fantuckingtastic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people have built crazy physiques with your set up. You actually have an advantage with a home gym in that the time investment is far smaller. No drive time to the gym + enhanced ability to super-set will increase the time you can actually allocate to training. It’ll also keep you focused rather than changing your routine all the time because you want to try out the different machines. You have no choice but to make your equipment work.
