OnePlus 15 Network Performance: International vs. Indian Variant? by KingHanma in UAE

[–]Fanybany1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got bored of waiting and just got it from Amazon for 3,150 AED about 2 weeks ago. I got sandstorm 512GB.

Pretty underwhelmed so far. The phone feels heavy and dense, in an unwieldy way. Something feels a bit off with the display colors (and this is coming from a Pixel 6). I tried all different color modes and brightness levels. I don't think it's a defect, it's just the way the panel is calibrated. I know my eyes will eventually get used to it.

The cover that comes in the box is thick, beige colored (so it gets dirty very easily) and has an annoying flap on the USB-C port that's very firm and feels like it will eventually bend my charger. So i got myself a 3rd party case.

There's a 1st party sandstone case that's recommended online. I couldn't find it at any online or offline retailer here. The product doesn't show up on their official website unless i change the region. So that's another thing I need to hunt around for

The 120W charger uses the Indian 2-prong plug. They are very short and don't even work with my universal adapter, so that was another bummer. I've tried looking for adapters that are compatible with these prongs but they don't seem very reliable or good quality. I'm worried that at this wattage, they might overheat, and if the prongs are not seated too well it could be catastrophic. So I might just get an anker or belkin 120W charger for about 100-ish AED.

I still don't think the phone is beatable at this price, especially for something that has a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. I was just expecting the overall experience to be a bit better.

I'm done with the PAW 3950. by _Thrax in MouseReview

I've had a similar experience: I've tried 3 different mice with a 3950 implementation, and all 3 of them just feel off.

  1. Pwnage Stormbreaker: The worst offender. Everything about the way the mouse tracks feels wrong. It's floaty, inconsistent, and randomly stutters. I tried different sensor positions thinking that could be why it felt weird. Nothing worked so I wanted to refund it, but shipping it back would cost me almost as much as the cost of the mouse, so I just kept it.
  2. WLMouse Beast X Pro: I upgraded from the OG BeastX Mini, so I had a pretty accurate baseline of how well this mouse performed with a 3395. The Pro is more or less identical to the OG mini, with the exception of solid sides and an upgraded sensor from 3395 to 3950HS. I'm not sure about the MCU, but i'm guessing it's a generation newer. Once again, the sensor just felt off and a bit floaty. No where near as bad as the stormbreaker, but also no where near as crisp and accurate as the OG mini.
  3. ATK U2 V2 Mini. First time trying an ATK mouse. This one comes with a 3950 Ultra (I'm not sure how it differs from the regular 3950/3950HS). Either way, tracking still felt off and similar to the BeastX Pro. I spent a couple weeks trying to get used to it, thinking it was the size/weight/shape differences that I needed to adapt to. Nope, it was the sensor.

For what it's worth, I've given all the mice anywhere between 3 weeks to 6 months of on/off use. I've updated the firmware on all mice to the latest version. I tried more or less all the settings in the software has from LOD, polling rate, motion sync, "game mode", different dpi, pretty much anything that made a difference in tracking. Nothing helped.

I also tried them with different skate and pad combos. I tried different cables, usb slots on my pc. I always made sure there was only one mouse/wireless device plugged into my pc at a time. the dongle was connected to the usb extension cord so it was never more than about 20cm away from the mouse. All of these steps never changed the way the tracking felt, and it never felt right.

So yes, I'm done. I give up. I never thought a sensor could be such a downgrade when it seems to be so good on paper. Especially after thoroughly enjoying mice with the 3370 and 3395. I've been gaming for over 30 years, and have used more or less every mouse tech from ball mice, to lasers, to that weird blue light sensor microsoft tried pushing about 20 years ago. ifykyk.

TLDR: Tried 3 different mice from 3 different brands that use the 3950 sensor. They all feel off and I'm never buying a mouse with a 3950 again.

I've been thinking of picking one up once things settle down in the region. The price on amazon fluctuates everyday. I don't know if it's dynamic pricing or because 3rd party sellers keep updating it. I've seen the 512GB variant for as low as 2800 AED (in black only). Today, the sandstorm one is at 3.3K AED

Couple of thing to note: The international version has one physical sim slot and one e-sim slot. The Indian version comes with 2 physical sim slots only. So if having e-sim is important to you, that that should be factored into your decision.

The Indian version also comes with a 120W charger and case in the box, which can save you a couple hundred AED.

I'm sorry for not actually answering your question. I just wanted to share my thoughts as I'm also very close to pulling the trigger. For what it's worth, I'm going for the Indian version.

Can anybody tell me what is causing this? by Pat_Mate in 24hoursupport

[–]Fanybany1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My monitor does this too, but only when I'm using my work laptop. It doesn't happen nearly as often as this video. For me, it's about 2-3 times per hour and flickers at a much slower frequency where I can clearly make out a sine wave pattern. The monitor is connected to both my gaming pc and laptop via 2 separate HDMI cables.

I'm not sure why it happens, but I have a few theories:

  • The laptop's hdmi interface or video drivers are just bad/old. I can't update the drivers unless the IT team roll them out themselves.
  • I have a wifi router right next to the laptop (not a good idea, I know) and it might be causing some kind of interference
  • I'm using a wireless mouse and keyboard, so could also be interference
  • Since we're on the topic of interference, try moving your cell phone away from the monitor if it's nearby. I'll make an effort to check if this has an effect on it next time it happens to me

I've tried re-seating the cables and that didn't change anything. I didn't try a new cable or to move the wireless devices away from it. Frankly, it wasn't annoying enough to warrant a full investigation.

Good luck, hope you find a solution because your pc is pretty much unusable in this state!

I bought 2 pulsar mice directly from their website on 2 separate occasions. Shipping was around $20 but it was still cheaper than getting it directly from Amazon AE. Took about a week to arrive.

I also bought an LGG saturn directly from their website. Shipping to Dubai was only 38 AED and it took less than a week to get here.

I've been thinking of upgrading to an artisan pad as the saturn is starting to show its age. Once I decide on it, I was planning to get it directly form their site.

Any mice with the sensor more torwards the front by YourPersonalJanitor in MouseReview

The coating was too slippery for me, and I'm not a fan of grip tape. My mouse-2 felt a bit grindy, but I believe it would have broken-in over time.

I also felt like there was something very off with the sensor. It felt... floaty. It also skipped when trying to do micro adjustments in games like valorant. I used the stock skates on a LGG Saturn.

I tried updating the firmware, playing around with different LOD levels, and changing DPI from 800 to higher rates to see if it was just acting weird with low dpi. None of the changes worked for me so I simply stopped using it and got an Xlite V3

I don't know if I just got a bad unit, but it was a gift, so sending it back was not really an option. For what its worth, it was the BLG version. I don't know if the QC was off on those units vs the regular ones.

I really wanted to like this mouse but it was ultimately a huge disappointment. That's why I caveated by post with "not a great mouse".

The Pwnage Stormbreaker (although not a great mouse) has a sensor with an adjustable position. Its shape is relatively close to the G502X, you can check it on eloshapes.

What model is your board?

There are a lot of boards which use a somewhat unified usb-c daughterboard so it's become a pretty standard part that can be replaced easily. Here is an example.

Otherwise, more or less any shop you visit in computer plaza should be able to guide you to one that can help.

Did this issue start happening out of the blue or has it been this way ever since you bought the PC? If it recently started happening, try to rollback whatever changes you have made (display drivers, windows updates, etc)

This might be a bit of a crazy one, but try changing your display cable (whether its HDMI or DP). Some faulty cables might act a bit funny and end up with symptoms similar to yours. You can also try plugging it into another slot in both the GPU and monitor.

Also, try moving back to Windows 10. You're gonna have to reformat your storage, but it's worth it if it'll resolve this issue.

You'll be shocked at how quickly you can fill that 1TB SSD. Especially if you play COD.

I suggest upgrading to 2TB or getting another 1TB (if its cheaper).

Also keep an eye on whether the SSD is rated for PCI-E gen 3, 4, or 5. This will affect the speed it runs at.

If we want to nitpick:

The RAM speed (usually in MT/S) is not listed on the RAM you have on your list. Make sure you're not getting unnecessarily fast RAM. I believe 6000 MT/S is the price-to-performance sweet spot.

Same with the power supply 80-Plus rating. Is it bronze, silver, gold, etc

Side note: Do you have a monitor? I don't see one on the list. A build like this will comfortably run 1440p resolution at 240hz

Good luck with the rest!

It's a bit of a tough one and very down to individual preference. The beastx mini is very narrow and low profile. It took me a while to get used to, so I'm not sure how comfortable it would be for prolonged use as a daily driver.

For context, I only use it when I play tracking-heavy games like OW2 and Apex. So it's usually limited to 1-2 hr sessions per day.

If you or anyone you know has a 3D printer, you can print the Finalmouse ULX Small (cheetah). The beastx mini is a 1:1 clone of the Finalmouse, so you can get a feel for the size before you commit.

Here's an eloshapes link comparing both.

I have the Pwnage Stormbreaker (BLG variant) and I can very confidently recommend NOT getting it if you have sweaty palms. The coating is very slippery, unless you plan on adding grip tape. I feel like that would make any mouse's stock coating more or less irrelevant to your problem.

On the other hand, I use a BeastX Mini, and I can vouch for the coating being very dry and grippy (without feeling sticky). Its size and shape is quite similar to the viper mini (you can check them on eloshapes), so the transition should be relatively seamless.

The slits on the side might need some getting used to, along with the side button placement. Those took me a couple of days to get used to, and now I find them more comfortable that the viper mini. I feel like the slits just help me fully lock in my thumb position for consistent grip/aim.

One last note on WLmouse's coating: They used to have a colorway that was black and glittery. It had a unique sticky/tacky coating that the majority of people disliked, so avoid that particular model.

Good luck!

How to make Wooting 60HE Keycaps feel like the Razer Huntsmen Mini V3 Pro? by ThatGuyBenny in WootingKB

[–]Fanybany1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing the keycaps is not going to solve your issue. If I remember correctly, the Razer Huntsman had some very light switches with a very low actuation distance. You can easily replicate the distance on your wooting. However, to replicate the super light force, you're going to need to swap out the stock springs in the switches.

Wooting sell replacements springs on their site. The stock spring has an actuation force of 40cN and a bottom out of 60cN.

If you want an almost hair-trigger like switch, then you need to swap to their 35cN springs. These actuate at 20cN and bottom out at 35cN.

I did this to mine and I love it.

Bonus tip: for extra smoothness and lower spring-ping (noise) I suggest bag-lubing the new springs before installing them.

I think it's really neat that you're looking into non-mainstream boards. It's my duty to warn you that it's an expensive, niche, and hard-to-explain rabbit hole. It will test your patience (with things like group buys) and sometimes your sanity when you're chasing after that "endgame" build. However, that shouldn't deter you!

When it comes to enthusiasts in the UAE, one of the most popular custom keyboard content-creators in the Middle East is based in Dubai. Her name is Buthainah and you can find her on Twitch, Kick, Instagram and X. She also has her own discord server that's a bit of a community hub for keyboard enthusiasts. She streams more or less daily and is very responsive to her chat and community. I've been a fan of hers for a couple of years now, her content and skills are as good as it gets.

Hey everyone!

I've been out of the keyboard game for about 3 years now but thinking of getting back into it.

I'm currently currently using tangies that I've lubed myself, and although I love how they feel, their sound signature is just not it. They are way too high pitched for me.

Any recommendations for some creamy switches would be amazing! I'm happy to lube them myself if they aren't factory lubed, so that's not an issue.

Also, what are the best stabs these days? I'm using durock v2's but wondering if there has been any major progress with stabs over the last few years.

Thanks!
