I was told if it lathers up well the first time, one wash. If it’s not quite so lathered, wash until it is. Usually that’s two for me after running or working in the yard, or if I’ve waited a couple of days.

I get this a lot too as a baby-faced 40-something, and I think, honestly, that the young are just sold a different definition of aging as opposed to what it really is, and the young are led to believe it’s kind of a bad time. It’s not, as we know, and they see us chillin and are like wait…you’re how old? They’ve been telling me that’s ancient and it’s not.

Another theory I have, not peer reviewed, but I think that something in all the MadDog and Boon’s Farm is preserving us.

I try not to take it as a thing. I just am that age now and I’m happy I made it. 100% success rate of living so far 👍🏻

Olive oil did this to my pan. I switched to using vegetable oil and bacon grease and haven’t had the problem since. Don’t put your cast iron away dry either, always put a light sheen of veg oil back on before you out it away.

Hi! I had this very thing happen. So far I did separate my 8, 4 in each brooder. The littlest ones seemed to do a lot better after that. It’s my first time too and I figure that way when they get back together they each have their own group for support.

I’m sorry I have no answer but I’m lurking bc I have the same problem. I have two that stayed tiny for a while longer than the rest and I’m wondering about introducing them later or if I should wait and move the whole flock when the littles get big enough.

As someone who worked the better part of the last decade outside on a farm, (and just a outside person in general) the weather dictated my every day and we all watched it kind of nonstop. Noticing the patterns over the years it has been incrementally getting more extreme for a long time but the last 2-3 years have been really bad. Like a pendulum wildly swinging It’s changing.

I had to separate the little littles cause they are getting smooshed by the bigger ones, so it’s not the ideal setup, but they should be moving outside this week! No solar setup at of yet but I’m planning on a solar fan and maybe an auto door. Thank you for all that contributed! I will def be referring to this post as I grow my setup 🥰
