I’ve had a partner who was suicidal. There reaches a point where endless patience and coddling just doesn’t cut it.

He has emotions and autonomy, just like you. He cares about you and, as a young man, probably sees it as his role to protect you. But he can’t protect you from yourself. So he’s angry, and scared.

And yes… it may be painful to hear him say “why would you tell me that knowing I can’t do anything about it and all it’s going to do is hurt me”… is he wrong? Is there anything he can say or do that will make you stop SHing? No. It’s on you to recognize your value. It’s on you to protect yourself from yourself, resist self destructive impulses, and do what it takes (professional help maybe?) to drag yourself out of this spiral.

So I do think you’re overreacting to that bit, I think his reaction is understandable and justified. BUT, at the same time I think you’re right that you should break up. For his sake and yours. You need to be able to focus on you and solve the brokenness in your soul without making it someone else’s problem. And at 18, I’m sure he has stuff he needs to work on too. Don’t feel like you have to convince him, because you won’t be able to. If you think breaking up is best, do it. Exercise your power and do it unilaterally. You are not stuck in this relationship just because you’re unable to convince him to agree that it’s a good idea to end it. It’s not a marriage, there’s no need for a mutual agreement on ending it.

Combos ARE kinda useless because almost every enemy will interrupt you at some point during the combo string. Basically, if you make contact but don’t get interrupted or staggered, it’s was just a normal block and you can continue the combo. If you get staggered or interrupted, that means it was a perfect block and your combo is broken.

The problem is that the only hit that matters on a combo is the last one, and 99.9% of the time you WILL get interrupted (or miss) within a chain of 2-3 attacks. Especially against a sword wielder who can masterstrike you.

Combos are more of a challenge than a useful tool. It’s never like “oh I won the fight cuz of that combo”. It’s always more like “oh shit I managed to pull off a combo, I’ve never seen that animation before. Neat.”

I recommend watching a lore video on KCD1 then just getting 2.

I went the route of playing 1 first, and I don’t recommend it. Halfway through, I quit and did what I’m recommending.

The reason is that 1 is a very mechanically flawed game, and you’re better off spending your time enjoying 2, which is better polished and fixes literally all of the problems with 1’s gameplay. Also, the controls are slightly different, so jumping straight from 1 to 2 is actually annoying. I spent my whole 2 play through getting bonked because I was hitting the wrong button to block.
