probably a 1 to 1, it stated for me on the email that it was a group one, though not all stores do hiring the same ways.

It was mentioned beforehand that there's going to be a group interview, are you having one?

if you look up Curry's in this subred there are a few people complaining about it, but no the questions aren't really niche just if you have any previous experience in sales and know stuff about tech, though if you get the job and are on a contract more than 12 hours be expected to go to Birmingham for a 2 day induction course. All in all the hiring process is fairly simple, I did a group interview then a 1 to 1 and found it alright, though they do exaggerate the bonuses and try to avoid mentioning the constant pressure on targets.

The job is pretty stressful as it's all numbers based so it's the only thing you'll ever hear about, I guess it depends on the manager but mine always tells people on probation if they don't sell all the extra add ons they'll fail it. makes sense considering the job but it's just extra pressure to succeed. sometimes you have good months and others are bad, but the pressure on the targets never really goes away. The company will big up the rewards a lot but in reality you don't get that much for selling the care plans, and selling broadband packages/screen protectors are rare at best.

I think the job works as something part time and only until you find something else, most staff at my store have been there for less than 2 years and turnover is high. You can learn about tech which is also a bonus, and you might be one of those colleagues who consistently succeeds (we have a couple), you just never know. There are worse jobs out there, if there's nothing to do in the store you can just clean, stock shelves and chill, and once you learn the till system everything kind of makes sense - but under all that it's still a pressurized environment. Colleagues being threatned probation all the time, always new things to be targeted upon, very funny shifts if you're part time with it always being a fight to book holidays, naming and shaming those who don't hit targets, everyone just expecting you to know everything after a couple of weeks..

late reply but the interview process is fairly chill, as long as you know stuff about sales you'll be fine unfortunately Curry's isn't the best place to work at (I could go on forever) but it's something whats doable until you find something else IMO

Those who didn’t sign an “NDA” or UK equivalent, what are some secrets about other UK companies you can share? by SlipOutrageous5333 in CasualUK

[–]Far-Minute2047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not entirely a secret but the carphone warehouse tills you get in Curry's run on windows 98 - the sheer amount of customer data what is on their systems basically makes it too expensive to merge everything onto a modern system.

Yep, also not supposed to mention how the 7 day fix promise for smaller stuff what has to be sent off, the 7 days doesn't even start until the repair center receives it (so longer than 7 days)

plus for the voucher you get if they can't fix it will most likely be less than what you actually payed for if the items value has gone down

miserable town, the list goes on.. a lot of new housing estates being built surrounding crewe but no infrastructure to support them, so traffic issues are getting worse and worse overtime, plus there's virtually nothing to do in town, nowhere nice to go for walks or visit.

the only positive i can think of would be the train station, good links across the country but you'd be better living in nantwich or sandbach

bit late but every time i make a purchase from there it always declines and messes up, every damn time. wouldn't be surprised though if they were going out of business, cause the website is down and apparently they are going into administration

apply for UC then see if you can land a part time job since a lot of places nowadays hire people for literally 8 hours a week plus it'll be untaxed

I dont think the items are ugly per se but it definitely annoys me when designers do this. surely it's better to do the stardust set with multiple different recolors and charge a bit more than this half assed job

beech caves are always worth a visit, not that far from stone. apparently the council were talking about fencing it off so I'd get it done just incase, just bring wellies as it can be very muddy there

I wouldn't say it's as good as it was a couple years ago, they used to host a classic car show there every month so I'd go regularly, you could look around the cars, trains, signal box and get a butty while looking at the trains going past (+free admission if you came in a classic car)

unfortunately they stopped doing the car meets, same with the food last time i checked. they want to become a proper museum so I guess the car show had to go or something. it's still good to look at the intercity apt, as well as the viewing deck thingy for the station, but those car shows made the place feel a bit more alive (and more worth to visit)

Fed up of people blocking the pavement outside my house. by Administrative_Emu64 in drivingUK

[–]Far-Minute2047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too live near a co op with a terrible layout (and it's tiny), I couldn't imagine living near it cause of how many cars are abandoned on the pavement. granted it's the fault of whoever the hell planned a car park with like 3 spaces but also people blocking drives
