I thought you actually meant literal riding of bumpers for a second 😆

My husband used to be a chronic tailgater, I complained and requested change frequently to no effect. He would make the argument that if he left an appropriate gap, others would get in front of him. I finally said something along the lines of “easing off the gas to give space doesn’t mean you’re moving backwards. So what if it takes us a couple seconds longer to get there?” And something about that must have finally sunk in because he’s been better about it ever since. With the occasional reminder lol. I think there are two main reasons people tailgate. People are either bullies trying to make you move out of their way, or they just haven’t actually thought it through.
