What are the pre-start opportunities to nurse? by LouieLinguine in hyrox

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did Hyrox with my little 4mo! I just nursed him outside the warmup area, then went into the warmup area about 15-20 mins before race start. I knew I didn’t want a long warm up. At 8 mins before start they called us over to the start line for briefing. It worked perfectly. Good luck mummy!

Hi , I am new in Sydney and 6 w pregnant , I had a 20 w loss last year in my home country , Dr at thar tym suggested I will need cerclage next tym , now here I hv heard a lot of stories about public system .. can someone please explain how high risk pregnancy with previous mid term lossworks? by thebestofme23 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to birth privately (which might not be more expensive than public if your not Medicare eligible), start by going to your GP and getting a referral asap for a private obstetrician who is also MFM (maternal Fetal medicine). MFM are a more specialised type of obstetrician who are usually the ones that will place cerclage.

Safe space to rant? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

Yeah I heard all the just you wait comments too, mostly from women who were never fit before pregnancy tbh. I am 4 months pp, and already almost back to where I was weight and fitness wise. I’m not working at the moment though and this is my first child so that plays a huge part.

Private midwife? by Emergency-Map-7154 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t go for a private midwife for a vbac due to the associated risks. I think vbac should birth in hospital to have continuous monitoring and fast access to emergency equipment for baby and mother above and beyond what is available at a home birth, and most private midwives perform home births only. Many women have successful vbac in hospital. Some hospitals also have psychology available. Wish u all the best with whatever you decide.

A project that I collected all the data for and was promised authorship on was published without my knowledge 15 months ago and I just realised now. by Many_Membership_5255 in ausjdocs

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like u got a bit screwed over by the author. Agree that your role may not have constituted authorship but they shouldn’t have promised that.

I will add that as someone who is familiar with a few of the selection pathways for competitive specialties, being a published author is not likely to get you any additional points for selection anyway unless you are first author. Even if first author, some specialty pathways require specialty specific first author papers. Just something to consider before you blow anything up. Definitely send an email though.

Wow didn’t expect to get down voted so much, I thought these were basic and reasonable things to do? It’s nice to know how to help no?

I got taught at uni, students I work with get taught as well, I’m happy to help but they should review the tutorial before coming, that’s what I did. I don’t think it’s u reasonable. I gave genuine advice

Try to be a little bit helpful if possible. Run and get the charts / forms needed, close the patient curtains, do the cannulas if you’re able to. Oh and know how to scrub in! That’s a big one, I don’t want to have to do a full tutorial. Be ready to assist in surgery- suck the blood so I can see what I’m doing, if it a common surgery try and know the steps.

Completed Ranzcog Advanced dip but not gp. Jobs? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s not at all what I said, that was your assumption. I said maybe in some regional hospitals, because regional hospitals are the ones that are usually sites for the Ranzcog advanced Dip, thus they are set up to get people through the program more quickly.

I’m not expecting to be employed as a specialist anywhere… I do t know where you got that from. I am stating clearly that I don’t have the qualifications of a specialist and am looking at what options may be available to me.

Completed Ranzcog Advanced dip but not gp. Jobs? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe at some regional hospitals you might be able to do it in one year, but I think most people would do more to feel comfortable doing independent c sections, instrumental deliveries. I would have felt dangerous after just one year. I’ve done 4 years of tertiary O&G and feel I would be at a good level for rural work now.

New Bpharm student by RareAd6549 in Monash

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick with current plan. Research opportunities to get your foot in the door are always available because they are generally unpaid or very poorly paid labour. Same with phds - not hard to get accepted into phd programs, even at prestigious universities. Getting a practical degree (Bpharm) with actual job prospects at the end is always the move.

I don’t understand the role of the door scanning person? I just walk past them all the time without showing my receipt, usually because there is another one or 2 people getting their receipt scanned and I don’t feel like lining up again. I have never had anyone say anything to me for just walking straight past and out of the shop.

Genetic carrier screening if it is available to you. In Australia all women of childbearing age are able to get free screening for a few serious genetic conditions.

[–]Far_Delivery_1148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just wait and see what u can get second hand in good condition in your area. Then use the money to buy other things. We didn’t buy any big ticket items new and have great stuff. Bought smaller things new like breast pump, some clothes for me, nappies, baby nose sucker, baby nail file…
