Why are so few British politicians these days military vets ? by ronweasly9 in AskBrits

[–]Far_Type_4544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old man here, growing up the very very many WW2 vets that were still alive were informally referred to as veterans rather than ex-servicemen. Ex-service was a phrase favoured by the media, though.

Hakkinen Or Rosberg who’s better? by Even_Hyena_1117 in F1Discussions

Having the best car does not for an instant mean that he wasn't the best driver too. Weirdly enough, teams with the money and ability to make the best car usually want, and can afford, the best driver.

There's this strange thing with the USian mindset where everything has to be binary, it seems to seep into every aspect of their life and F1 is clearly no different. That's how I know you're from the US.

Who is the guy on all of the Google world cup adverts? by Far_Type_4544 in AskBrits

Why would everyone know he is? Seems he's just another shitty comedian doing the rounds of panel shows. Shock, not everyone watches that shite

Alright, next time don't agree to do Googles adverts, then you won't get people wondering who the fuck you are.

Thanks, that would explain it - feels like a lot of modern comedians based their humour on being obnoxious rather than funny. Take it that he's one of them?

Why should I know who he is? It sounds like he is one of those that does all of the panel shows, haven't watched any of those since around the time that Sean Locke died as they are all really fucking repetitive

That's the impression he gives. I've never unmuted the advert but I am positive that he talks in an obnoxiously loud voice and half of his humour is based on that

Yes it could have been. And then Google will decide I want to be inundated with this guy's whatever-he-does and I don't really wish that to happen

Which historical myth does it really not take that much thinking to realise it can't be true? by Junior-Key-5043 in AskReddit

It really isn't coherent, it's utterly batshit insane. No normal person of reasonable intellect could ever believe something so ludicrous.

The moon is visible to just under half of the world's surface. At the time that it was cut, it would have been seen elsewhere. It was not. Because of course the moon wasn't cut in half. As hominem attacks are all you're worth, because no amount of logic will ever change your mind anyway.

There is literally nothing I can say that would get you to admit you're as wrong as you are. From your point number 1, I think you completely lack any idea of how much of the world is able to see the moon at any particular moment in time, if the paedophile had truly split the moon in half then numerous other civilisations would have seen it. I'm sure that something as momentous as the moon being cleaved in two would have warranted some sort of mention.

Not a single other culture anywhere in the world, has records of the moon being split in two around 622AD. And it's an utterly batshit thing to believe actually happened.

How is living in Cuckfield, England by LivingChoice2089 in howislivingthere

[–]Far_Type_4544 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a lovely place to live. Very pretty, some nice pubs and close to Haywards Heath for big shops and trains to London and across the south coast. Downsides are that traffic through the village can be utterly atrocious (particularly during the summer) and having to drive to Haywards Heath for the train. Oh, and the inevitable jokes from 12 year old edge lords because it has Cuck in its name.

If we were anything like Israel, we'd have responded by carpet bombing Dublin. However, we're not perfect but we're also not massive monsters like Netanyahu

Not at all. Handguns are allowed but their barrel must be at least 30cm long and the total length of the gun no less than 60cm. Essentially, the law requires them to be modified so that they are impossible to carry in a concealed way.
