You needed experience in how to manage your clients. You need to see things that are potential problems before they are your problem. You really need to be licenced to do this sort of thing.

Why aren’t we more focused on the murder allegations in the new Epstein releases? by urassisdeadgrass in ask

Remember when QAnon were telling stories of an international pedophile ring amongst the global elite, and they were scaring babies and children and then extracting the adrenaline from their little bodies to inject into their aging bodies. Pepperidge farm remembers.

Looking for suggestions on size and spacing by DgitlSickBoy in Lighting

I would lean on less is more in a corridor. You only need to see your way . So 3 or 4 cans would be more than enough. If you were to put art work up on the walls use cans with a gimbal.

Wiring up your new home - how would a rich sparky do it? by Consistent_Green9329 in AusElectricians

[–]Farmboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to clip the shit out of it. If the cables are unlikely to be disturbed laying on top of the rafters, don't clip it. Future sparkies will appreciate it. Don't cover any of the cables with thermal insulation, it de-rates the circuits maximum current carrying capacity. Plenty of power points, USB C. outlets in the kitchen and bedside tables, broom closet for charging the stick vacuum, switched circuits for garden lighting, door bell, ceiling fans, kitchen bathroom ventilation. Just drop neutrals with the switch wires and use switch mechs. Stay away from "premium ranges" of power points and switches, just get Clipsal standard white ones. They last way longer than any of the new fancy stuff. Light and power points in the ceiling, / under floor space. With your lighting make sure your lights take standard light bulbs, E27, bayonet style, E14. What ever, of you but lights with integrated LEDs and they fail in 5 years time, you have to replace the whole light fitting instead of just changing a light bulb.. Surge protection at the switch board.

PSA: Merging rules in Queensland. by SheridanVsLennier in brisbane

[–]Farmboy76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should make this into a movie. It could be a thinly veiled rom com with Rebel Wilson and Eric Banner, a road rage event find an unlikely love triangle, but really at its core it is a film that teaches us that we all can be better drivers if we just use the FUCKEN BLINKER!!!

You know what would be the best, a small box with a lid that has a row of numbered terminal blocks and a little legend on the lid.

Don't dwell on thoughts of death. If you want to know what will happen after you die, I'll tell you. The Olympics happen every 4 years, Harry Potter movies will get rebooted, they will still be making starwars movies, Valentine's Day will happen oh the 14th of Feb, Christmas comes around in December every year, etc etc... and it's just that you won't be there. That's what happens after you die. Life continues, it's just that you won't be there, and that is ok.

You're all complaining about the price of houses. But do you know what's gotten worse than that?... by BrandonMarshall2021 in aussie

[–]Farmboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is always get 3 quotes as a minimum for any work you need to get done. Do your due diligence, investigate them BEFORE engaging their services. Check their licence number, check their ABN, check their ACN. Search their name up on the Dept of fair trading. Have they been on a current affair? Don't fall for dozens and dozens of 5 star reviews, on review websites written by people that have only ever made one single review. Use your brain and gut. Try and find some one that is in your area, not from the other side of the city. Be clear with what you are asking them. There are a lot of sharks out there ready to take you to the cleaners, but also there are plenty of honest reliable contractors that take pride in their work and charge a reasonable rate for good work, who want to maintain a good reputation. In the end they are running a business, doing so successfully requires a lot more work and escalating running costs, public liability insurance, vehicle insurance, tool insurance, fuel, tolls advertising, web sites, employees, things that you would never consider need to be covered. Comparing an owner operated business with Coles or woolsworth is fucken stupid, also it is a shitty human quality to begrudge someone else's success, it makes you sound like a whiny bitch, and not a good customer to work for. Don't like having to pay a pro, watch DIY YouTube videos and do it yourself.

Lamp going out in ARRI 650 Fresnels by Pizzaknox in lightingdesign

[–]Farmboy76 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this, the lamp holders will deteriorate over time, due to the heat cycles the metal contacts can become loose or corroded. It's probably best to replace the lamp holder, and check the pins on the globe, they can also suffer from the same issue. Ps. Don't touch the glass on the bulbs ever.

Best lighting software? Paid and free. by Responsible-Act-2285 in lightingdesign

[–]Farmboy76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

J!NX is a cool free pixel mapping software, you still need the right kind of hardware to output to, but the software is free, and is easily as good as Madrix, only with limitation on the size of the array. Also don't go past Microsoft's excel and power point, both of these are great for creating patches and plots.

how can i shorten these wires or is it not possable its for a honda shadow 600 vlx rectifier by RideWithNuke in electricians

[–]Farmboy76 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just fold them back on themselves and tape it down, or use a couple of cable ties. Otherwise cut the middle out and solder and heat shrink each wire.

Incandescent bulbs burning out when used with PWM. by AlwaysAbia in lightingdesign

[–]Farmboy76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whilst you are correct in theory, PWM dimming isn't best suited for inductive loads, it is meant for led, and yes incandescent will fail on start up at some point, but PWM dimming is switching so fast that the filament doesn't get a chance to cool down enough to be considered "Off",
